That maybe true. My 8yr. old yorkie has had about 5 episode of unexplainable diarrhea. So, I give him sensitive food by Hills. Now I'm trying Blue sensitive stomach food. I cannot have that happening again. I don't let anyone give him table food at all.

Don't do blue they are terrible and many many many co pain of dogs have stomach issues on them. They are not a trustworthy company.

HOWEVER, if you do not care for his teeth you will have major problems with them. Th is is when my vet said to start giving him raw chicken leg bones once a week. DO NOT COOK THESE BONES!!!!!

COOKED BONES KILL RAW BONES HEAL. Cooking any food changes the nature and structure of the food ESPECIALLY bones. This is why dogs/cats choke on the cooked bones and often die in the process of going to the vet. Raw bones are not able to splinter in that way. The bones are to be removed after the dog/cat is finished with it that day.

Well, yes, there are sort of laws! By that I mean agency policies with rules about therapy dogs.

It may be regional but in several states I have worked in agencies require Therapy Dog Certification. Which means they have completed a formal course and we're tested. My local hospitals and the senior centers here require it partly because of the liability insurance that comes with the certification.

Additionally, most the hospitals we go to will not take certified therapy dogs that are on raw diet. The infection control officer in those hospitals makes that decision depending upon how they see the rinks for their patients.

I know the local children's hospital will not allow a patient to keep a service dog with them who is on a raw diet.

All of that being said, there may be just as many agencies who don't care, I just have not come across them in the large metropolitan cities I live in. But ones does have to check.

There are certain things required of Therapy dogs I think you might need to further look into it. We have had a member who said it and I have heard it from other people as well. When a dog is on prescription food for stomach issues I would never advise them to feed raw because most of the time their stomachs can't handle it. Dogs can actually choke on anything really yep that includes raw bones. The problem with cooked bones is that they splinter and can puncture parts of the inside of the body they come in contact with. I think stating that raw bones heal might be a bit misleading because this hasn't actually been proven. Also raw bones do not clean under the gum line so dogs will still end up needing dentals especially if they have genetics to have bad teeth.

I didn't know you trained therapy dogs as well as service dogs. They are very different. Considering most places require Therapy dogs to be certified in order to visit hospitals and nursing homes I would think that you might want to check with some of those places that certify them and even some of the places that allow therapy dogs to come. I certainly believe our member who even commended to you on this post and who has a therapy dog. I also did do my research and have found the same things. Whether you agree or not it is something they do. I prefer to trust vet nutritionists over vet techs who have even more limited knowledge of food then some vets. I'm a vet assistant which can also be considered a vet tech and I feel I learned great things about nutrition but it was limited. I'm glad that you have had success I have heard many stories of no success and experienced it to. My older girl Callie has IBD and before she was diagnosed I switched and tried every food including freeze dried raw. She seemed to have the biggest reaction to the freeze dried raw. She was diagnosed and put on Royal Canin Hydrolyzed protein small breed and now only had issues if she gets something not dog food or her certain treats so the prescription food is definitely not causing her stomach issues. Not sure why anyone would keep their dog on a food they thought was causing issues.
