| HELP PLEASE? Shelldeane' (my 6yr old York wouldn't eat at times). My husband and I feel we are doing something wrong with our 6yrs old Yorke. We feed her twice a day at 8am and 7pm most times. The issue we are having is when we have leave the house for long periods of the day. She would not eat....I mean absolutely nothing until we return home then she would eat her food. We give her favorite dish which is Royal Canin for YorkshireTerrier. Since we introduce her to this food she smashes it down like no tomorrow. I've spoken to our vet a few times and they say its okay. She wouldn't starve herself to death. Should we be concerns that she only eats when we are home? When I travel she wouldn't eat for a few days. I just returned last night from a 5 day trip. My son said she only ate yesterday which means she didn't eat for 4days! It's not the first time she does it either. It's all the time. I don't know what to do...I feel lost and I am so worried. Anyone else Yorke does this? Any suggestions, please? Thanking you I advance for your help.

| It is not uncommon for dogs to not eat or drink when you are not home. Does your son live in your home ? If not & he only comes to check on her when you are away, it would be a good idea to try NOT leaving the food down while you are away & have him come a couple of times a day & when he gets to your house then he can put her food down. She will be more likely to eat then & have him pick up her food before he leaves. Welcome to YT ! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Aw, the little sweetie is super attached to you ! This can happen w/ many dogs - not eating when owner is away. It's not ideal, of course, but she *will* eat when she gets too hungry. What you can try is when you're gone - have your son (or whoever) do something different/enticing that doesn't normally happen -- like, sprinkle powdered paremesan cheese onto her food to make it small all gooood and different - that smell is extremely enticing for doggies.
