Gurgling stomach and pain

Hello everyone,I wanted to ask for your opinion if anyone can help me.I have 16 months old yorkie girl(she is the light of my life)problem with her is:When she was about 9months old she started to get pains in her stomach,it started as gurgling most loud noise,pain,vomiting yellow bile,mucus in the stool which smelled as blood (mucus is yellow colour).I took her to the vets straight away when first episode started,vet thought she swallowed something and preformed exploratory surgery(nothing has been found) he put her on different antibiotics and pain killers and Hills zd food(she eat that food for 3-4 months).After she wasn't any better I took her to the best European Enoscopist ,results came back as mild colitis(which is not definitive diagnosis I think)Specialist adviced to put her on metronidazole and probiotics(she is on that still)also I have seen holistic vet(he give her some medication as well)Now my vet suggested full biopsy of inside organs so we can definitely know what's going on,she have post operation hernia which needs to be fixed.She is only 2kg in weight and I'm really scared if she is going to survive this.Im feeding her with raw meat for the past few months now,every 2 weeks she has blood and fecal test,her TLI always come slightly higher than normal.What do you think I should do with her,is it fair on her to be every week or 2 weeks in pain,I don't know what to do anymore,please if you have or had this problem with your baby please give me some advice,I'm afraid not to do something that I will later regret.Thank you. Did she ever have Giardia or anything as a puppy? Also, how are her poos - are they firm and fine - or are they mushy/grainy/gel-like/etc...?

Have you ever tried using white fish as your protein base? (ie, cod, sole, tilapia etc...)

Thank you for your response, the only thing that has been found in her fecal sample few weeks ago was campylobacter, she has had a course of marbocyl tablets.Her stool is normal,just when she has flare up then her stool is really soft with mucus.I tried boiled cod fish and chicken,she had horrible smell coming from her mouth.Gardia was never detected

Our boy had very similar symptoms, except his stomach would also squeal and squeak and he would sometimes have dark blood in his stool. It took us 4 years to figure out what was wrong, but finally after a biopsy of his GI tract and other tests, doctors discovered that he had an issue where he would over-produce white blood cells, which would directly impact his GI system. I can't remember what the exact diagnosis was, but the treatment was to go on something called Azathioprine for the rest of his life, an immunosuppressant that kept his white blood cell levels in check. Once he started taking that, he never again had the issue.

No idea if this is what your dog has, but it's worth discussing with the doctors.

Thank you so much for your advice Armaneo I will definitely ask my vet about it,I just want to know what could've go so wrong with her stomach?I keep questioning myself did I done something wrong?Was I feeding her correctly?I never fed her with our human food,when she was a puppy she used to eat Royal Canine puppy kibble mixed with boiled chicken breast.Also when she was teething I used to give her raw carrot,peace of apple or clementine that was the only food she would have.Im scared to let her have biopsy because she is so small.I am sorry your baby passed away,I can imagine how you miss him now.My deepest condolences to you and your family.

Thank you for your condolences, Jasna.

Because of Armaneo's GI sensitivity, we kept him on a very strict diet, like you do with your little one. No human food other than apples, pears, and bananas in extreme moderation. But, his GI would still flare up like I described without explanation, even when his diet was perfectly consistent.

I'll look through my papers to see what the actual diagnosis was. I don't exactly recall if the biopsy was the means by which they reached the diagnosis or if there is some less-invasive way they discovered it.

I located his medical papers. His formal diagnosis was lymphocytic and plasmacytic enterocolitis, for which he was prescribed azathioprine as a mainstay drug.

Thank you so much Armaneo,that's is similar what showed on my dogs endoscopy results(mild lymphocytic plasmocytic colitis)but my vet said that is not definitive diagnosis.I never had a dog before,she is my very first pet and we had such a bad start😢.I feel alone in this problem and vets are looking at me as bank machine😭.I even left my day job for nights so she never stays home alone because I never know when she will be in pain,I just can't relax.If you don't mind me asking what food did you feed your dog with?Im feeding mine with raw meat from company called Honey's real dog food,I don't know if that is the best food I could give to her?Thank you so much for your help,I really appreciate it xxxx

Good morning,thank you so much Armaneo for helping me,my dog have similar if not the same diagnosis when she had endoscopy(mild lymphocytic plasmacytic colitis)but my vet is saying that is not definitive diagnosis we have to know what is causing colitis,I'm confused.I never had a dog before she is my first pet and we had such a bad start.I feel alone in this problem,I can't relax and enjoy her,she cost so much money but I don't regret it as long I can help her,but I can see my money is waisted on some unnecessary tests over and over again.Im afraid to leave her home alone,that's why I left my day work for nights,I don't know if I am realistic with all of this?if you don't mind if I ask what kind of food you feed your dog with?Im feeding mine with raw meat and I don't know if that is the best food to give her?Should I let her to have those biopsyies?she is only 2kg?Thank you once again I really appreciate it.xxx

You just fed straight cod w/ chicken...or...? I would try feeding some white fish, green beans, and sweet potato.

Was the mucus around the whole poo - or just at the very end of the poo? If around whole poo, then it's coming from small intestine - if just at end of poo, it's likely the anal glands emptying at the very end of pooping.

Raw dog food, balanced - that is, is very good for them so if you can feed it - stick w/ it.

Have you give probiotics? Or Sucralfate?

Thank you Wylie's mum,I tried just boiled cod fish for two days and she had horrible smell from her mouth same happened with chicken. Her poo depends, sometimes would be covered with mucus(most of the time)or just at the very end.Im leaving her with the vet tomorrow morning and operation is booked for Thursday,vet said that we can't wait any longer because her hernia is growing, he needs to fix that so most logical would be to take biopsy at the same time.I honestly tried as much as I could,I have been following Yorkie forum for so long and read other peoples experiences.I just want her to be happy and healthy

We were feeding Armaneo food specifically formulated for his poorly functioning kidneys. I'm not sure it would be appropriate for your little one, but it was Royal Canin - Renal Formula E (canned).

As for the biopsies, I understand your concern. It ultimately comes down to your trust in the medical team. Doctors and vets regularly administer general anesthesia and perform surgeries on infants and small animals alike, and know what they are doing. Yes, it's trickier the smaller the body, but I don't think they would attempt the surgery without understanding (and conveying to you) the risks. If the doctors think the hernia surgery is medically necessary, then your little one needs to go under anesthesia anyway, so the biopsies can occur without too much further interruption (I think). But, I'm no medical professional. Good luck. I know how stressful this is.

Hi everyone,my dog had biopsy taken today,I have spoken with vet,he found so much abnormality in her stomach,her liver doesn't look normal,something wrong with spleen,scarring on her intestines,enlarged lymph nodes and he repaired 2 hernias.Results will come back in five working days,Im really scared, he is saying now that we should done this three months ago😞

Tough news to hear, but you're doing exactly what you should for the care of your dog. I hope the news is good and you can manage whatever issues she has. I understand how hard this is and am hoping for a good result.

Ann, how does the Giardia correlate? that's not me being snarky. I've been trying to look up information regarding this, and i've come up with a big fat zilch. We are now getting to the bottom of her gurgling.
