| ![]() Have any of you used Advantage for flea control? I use flea meds on Charlie, 12 yr old, for a couple months of the year. That's all it's needed. I use to use Frontline Plus on him but the last batch I bought caused him to develop 2 bald spots where it was applied. The vet sold me 1 dose of Trifexis but when I got home and read about it I do not want to give him that. We do not have heartworm here and they did not test him for heartworm before giving it to him. I don't want to put poison in his body when we live in an area it is not needed. So I'm trying to find the best topical for him. K9 Advantix also covers ticks and we don't have those here either so I'm leaning towards the Advantage. Anyone used it? Has anyone had a negative experience with it? Thanks! ![]() |

| ![]() Sorry, haven't been on lately. Yes I use it for my puppies for the same reason. they are 2 years old and very seldom have a flea on them but when they do, that is what I buy. To be specific, Advantage 2 for small dogs.

| ![]() I use advantage II for small dogs also. But 'knock on wood' we have never had fleas. We recently applied it because we have been pretty darn social lately. We also treat for heartworm, it didn't used to be in our area but there are a lot of people importing infected dogs from other parts of the country and it is spreading up here. My local vets office had two cases come in last month- I didn't think it was here a few years ago either. These spot on applications are all neurotoxin insecticides, that is how they kill fleas. There are some alternative options to keep parasite populations down and they are best used in a very preventative, holistic, conjunctive and consistent manner.

| ![]() Sorry for the late reply! Thank you both for your replies ![]() ![]() Dudley's mom & Lilah Charm...do you purchase the Advantage II online or from a store? Have you had any bad experiences with any online purchases of this? My last batch of Frontline plus was purchased from Amazon and because it caused baldness on the application sites I quit using it but wonder if maybe online is not a good idea OR if Charlie just developed some sort of allergy to it after years of use(couple times a yr only though). Thanks again! |

| ![]() i have purchased it both ways without any problems. My vet first sold it to me and then I bought it at 1800petmeds, then Chewy's. Chewy's was the cheapest.

| ![]() I have been using Nexguard, but am a bit frustrated. Hubby had a flea hop on him last night. I just had one hop on me. Can't tell that the pups have any though. Lady across the street has a dog and it is covered in fleas. I don't know if we can get them from there or not? Also, hubby got rocky mountain spotted fever earlier in the summer from ticks. So, I feel that Nexguard is not as effective as I would like. Thinking about Advantage but my vet doesn't sell it.

| ![]() I have used Advantage II for years with no problems. I order mine from RevivalAnimalHealth.com. They have the best prices around.
