| Oral Health care and what food to feed. My furbaby is 5 years old and weighs 3lbs. Her recent visit to the dentist didn't go as well as I had hoped. She had 2 teeth removed and a few or loose. Her plaque and tater builds up quick. What can I feed her to help and what can I do to help preserve the remaining teeth. I would greatly appreciate any advice. Thanks in advance. |

| I brush but not as often as I should. It is a fight. I give her Bully sticks and Greenies, she likes both of them. I do not add anything to her water. I wish she would drink more water than she does, I think it would help her breath. Is there something you would recommend to add to her water? |

Hygiene plays an important role in preserving our dog's teeth. Be patient in encouraging him during brushing time as this will be very important. As for dog toys, give him something to chew on because this will remove plaques on your dog's teeth. Raw bones also works best, just be sure to monitor him when he's chewing it. Eager dogs tend to destroy even the hardest bone. I assume you already know the harm of bones to our beloved furry babies. If you want the best for him, brush his teeth twice a day. Find some ways to make him behave. I have experiences with using water additives and none of the ones I've tried were effective. There are also a lot of myth about that so I suggest you do your research first before trying out anything. Also, a raw diet might be effective.

| I take a baby's toothbrush, and push the doggie toothpaste ( I use Petsmile because of VOHC approval) way down into the bristles. She then chew on it and brushes her own teeth for the most part. We do that twice about everyday or every other day. She loves the beef flavor and I can even just rub it on her teeth.

| I have been reading Dr. Will Falconer's ideas and will be trying soon. We lost one dog to a tube the caused the throat to collapse so don't want another. Good luck. Our Yorkie is 8 lbs and on a diet but hates hard foods. |

Now her teeth is a bit yellow. Is there a way to get them white again without going through a full expensive dental procedure?
