Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Personally, I think there are way better general supplements out there than Dynovite. What Dynovite is absolutely excellent for is their marketing and commercials...other than that, not really impressive at all in terms of ingredients.

| Ok......well heres the issue I am having with Lil Milee. She has been scratching and breaking out with bumps and flaking really bad. When I took her to her vet he told me he highly recommended the Dinovite for those reasons alone. Right now she is ok because he gave her a shot and sprayed her with some sort of grooming oil. He said this would last a week and if she started scratching again and breaking out that I needed to do process of elimination with her food and that this dinovite would help with her issues of scratching and breaking out. I haven't ordered it because I don't want to start giving her something else that may either make her worse or do nothing at all. Do you have a vitamin supplement you would recommend? |

| While I believe supplements are important in some cases it is important to know where they are from and what they have been derived from. Many supplements used in the United States today are synthetic and processed in China. Most supplements that are like that will never mention that fact. The best nutritional supplements are derived from real food sources and will proudly tell you that. |

Some people get their pets tested by a specialist. If that is not an option for you then getting her on a good quality low ingredient food may help. Good quality omega 3 supplements are good for skin issues as well. If possible try using an all natural shampoo and conditioner that is free of sulfate and other chemicals. Once the body has developed an allergic response it is important to remove as many irritants as possible. I know some people who had success by switching to food with alternative meat sources like fish, duck, rabbit, etc. I'm sure the steroid injection gave her relief but since the steroid suppresses the immune response temporarily sometimes the allergic reaction will come back even worse when the steroid wears off if the offending substance has not been removed. I wish you well on this search for relief for your little girl. | |

Dinovite® Original Canine Ingredients: Ground flax seed, dried kelp, yeast culture, ground grain sorghum, fructooligosaccharide, zinc methionine complex, diatomaceous earth, montmorillonite clay, yucca schidigera extract, dehydrated alfalfa meal, Aspergillus oryzae fermentation product dehydrated, Aspergillus niger fermentation product dehydrated, Lactobacillus acidophilus fermentation product dehydrated, Lactobacillus casei fermentation product dehydrated, Bifidobacterium thermophilum fermentation product dehydrated, Enterococcus faecium fermentation product dehydrated. You can see that there are several allergens in this list! So no, I would not under any circumstances go down the Dinovite road. It's like slapping some ointment on a gaping wound...what's the point? I've dealt w/ allergies extensively and the best advice I'd give you is to go to a Vet Dermatologist asap - they will get you squared away immediately. Otherwise, you will end up going to this generalist vet probably about 3-6 more times, spending more $$ each time...with still no solution. Most generalists are terrible w/ allergy dogs. For how to deal w/ allergies, read all of this: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/die...tart-here.html

| I used Dinovite for about a year with the cooked hamburger, eggs, rice ,green beans etc for my little diabetic jack russell ,Sugar. She got severe allergies and I couldnt figure out why until I read the ingred. in it!!! because it was so highly recommended I never thought to read the ingred. ( can you say STUPID?) Plus i was thinking how expensive it was getting. But I will spend whatever is needed for my girls or figure out how to do it. But after reading the ingred I thought no way. And sure enough Sugar got better, still has allergies but not as severe. |
