| Newspaper, safe? Someone has informed my that newspsper is unsafe for training. Its toxic. Now I recycled all the ads and coupons, its just the newspaper portion. Thought, if its unsafe its gone from my prospective. I didn't want puppy pads cause i'm not able to afford them, thats why I training then to go on a green carpet area, with paper underneath and a second carpet to swap and wash the other. |

| If its safe for humans to handle, it should be safe for dogs to walk on. My only concern would be if a dog ingested the paper on a regular basis. As long as your dog is walking on the paper and not eating it, you're okay. The Safety Of Newsprint Bedding, CDFS-122

| I mainly use disposable pads. I only buy them when they are on sale and I stockpile them. If the store doesn't have them instock during the sale period, I get a raincheck. I never pay full price for them. I also have some washable potty pads. They are pricey initially, but last for years, and would save money in the long run. I put a large washable pad under the area I put disposable pads, to protect my wood floor. The ones I have are four years old and still look new, with regular washing.

| Newspaper is safe. I work in a vet clinic and we use it to line the dog kennels with and we use it in cat litter boxes also.

| I have always been told by people if ingested (meaning chewed on or eaten) that it is not safe. I would also think that since it gets on our hands just by touching it that I'm sure it gets on there paws and then if they lick there paws there still getting it in there mouth. Puppy pads are just safer and work better. I personally would not take the chance but that's me.
