| Allergen free food and shampoo I recently changed Mia to natural balance , she was on cesars prior to that. since the first day I combined her food she was excited to get her food I guess because of the natural balance portion and then I fully changed it to natural balance, she continued to be completely excited always but the past two days she has been avoiding her bowl. She wags her tail when its time for food but once I put the bowl down she eats maybe a teaspoon worth and that's it. I also have noticed that she may have an allergic reaction to this food seein as she now bites her paws when she never ever did that before. I just ordered a med shampoo for her along with a conditioner see if she scratches less providing relief. But I am worried about her food brand. She was on natural balance venison and sweet potato and has about a month of it, should I change her to the duck and potato or fish and sweet potato kind. both of these have great reviews about allergies. I would have her checked by a vet to check what could be her allergies from but right now is not the best time economically , I recently got laid off and I'm in the process of beginning a new job mid month so right now I might have to wait atleast a month to be able to check her for allergies. In the mean time id like to provide her with an allergen free kind of food, some suggestions were the wellness simple but what flavor or any other brands? . Can anyone help? | Food allergy's are rare more then likely it's environmental. There are blood tests for environmental allergy's but not food. There is no real allergen free food sold at stores you would have to get prescription food from your vet. Even if a food has very limited ingredients it is still made in a plant with foods that have other ingredients so the food ends up contaminated and not 100% truely allergy free. Kind of like someone with a peanut allergy can not eat anything that is made in a plant that makes things that use peanuts. Obviously if he is itchy and uncomfortable he needs to go to the vet because the itching can cause bumps and infections.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Honestly, I'd go back to feeding what you were feeding before the paw chewing started -- to really see if it's the new food or not. Granted, Ceasers is not a great food - but if there was no paw chewing then, it'd be fine to try it again for 6 weeks and see what happens. If the paw chewing disappears, then you know something for sure. I wouldn't switch to just another protein source w/in the same brand bc they will use very similar ingredients overall within the brand...so it is very possible you won't get anything out of switching. thats true same brand different flavor would have generally the same ingredients Causing the same reactions. I really dont want to feed her cesars main reason why i changed her food because i did some research on it and it was like feeding mcdonalds to a kid trashy food.
