Food allergy's are rare more then likely it's environmental. There are blood tests for environmental allergy's but not food. There is no real allergen free food sold at stores you would have to get prescription food from your vet. Even if a food has very limited ingredients it is still made in a plant with foods that have other ingredients so the food ends up contaminated and not 100% truely allergy free. Kind of like someone with a peanut allergy can not eat anything that is made in a plant that makes things that use peanuts. Obviously if he is itchy and uncomfortable he needs to go to the vet because the itching can cause bumps and infections.
