| ![]() The teeth they are referring to would be baby teeth. Yorkies and many toy breeds don't always drop them on their own, they have to be removed by a Vet. Usually it is a good idea to do it when spay/neuter is being performed as they would need anesthesia anyway to remove those teeth. They can have pretty long roots and it is important to have them out. Left in, they can cause crowding, throw off the bite, food can get caught in the tight areas where teeth are crowding and rot. | ![]() I would have them examine her teeth and make sure all of her adult teeth are in before scheduling the spay and retained teeth removel, otherwise you may end up having to put her under again later when her teeth are fully in. I know it is already scheduled but I would postpone it if necessary to avoid a second need for anesthesia. JMO. |

| ![]() Had my 8 mo old, 4 lb. Yorkie spayed and her baby teeth (which created a second row of teeth) removed at 6 mos. old. It's best to do both procedures at the same time to avoid another round of anesthesia. Insist your puppy not be given pain meds in addition to the initial anesthesia. I lost my 7 yr. old baby during a routine teeth cleaning when the vet gave her the pain meds. It was too much for her little body and she went into cardiac arrest. My new pup was not given meds for pain and she came through it just fine. |

| ![]() I called the vet and im going in before the surgery to see if in fact all her baby teeth are gone so i dont have to pur her under twice. I know they did mention about pain meds, though but thanks for that information i'll make sure to see about that. im very comfortable with the doctor who is doing the surgery but it's still so nerve racking - i so want to back out of it but i know i have to get it done sooner or later. Thank you all!! |

| ![]() Hi, It's very important with these little guys to have the teeth taken care of. If you're having her spayed then it's a simple procedure to remove the baby teeth at the same time. As your Yorkie gets older it's important to have the teeth cleaned periodically because their teeth tend to have decay which if not taken care of can lead to infection which will travel through their body. It can then become a major medical problem. Just be sure the vet doesn't overmedicate (unintentionally) your precious baby. - NO Pain Meds. Good Luck! |
