Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Man needs help for little girls diet please My ten month little baby has not been fully right for about 10 days. Sometimes she has a firm darkish stool, other times it's plopped. Occasionally the first little log is firmish, accompanied by two dob plops alongside? I've been feeding her freshly boiled chicken and rice, sometimes with a little canned peas. Should I restrict her to freshly boiled chicken only? From a pup she's always had 'Royal Canin' (bowl by her distilled water) and I give her 'Harrington's Dog Treats' as a training aid (about six a day). I've read on here about pepto etc, but would rather get her right naturally somehow? I'm getting a Pumpkin delivered with my grocery order Tuesday. Should this be cut up and cooked, if so can I microwave in a rice steamer for a few mins Any help appreciated Ladies as my wife's away for a couple of weeks. Also is any type of pumpkin preferable, we don't seem to go in for the canned variety this side of the pond only Organic and the more bog standard 'Halloween' type. If there's no real improvement after say five days I think it's time for the a call to the Vet. She's only ever had her jabs as a pup and maybe it's time for a check over? She's in rude good health and has just been terrorising me here for about an hour, before crashing out next to me and chasing critters in her dreams right now! |

| Sometimes if they eat too much, their poopie can be a little on the soft side...@ the end. I would stop all treats 1st, see if there's any improvement. If not, eliminate the chicken. Basically, you'll be doing a elimination trial to figure out what food she's reacting to. @ the end, the only thing she'll be eating is her kibble & if she still has inconsistent poopies, then it might be best to change her food/ protein source. Pumpkin should be the no spice kind, pure pumpkin in a can or whole pumpkin that you cook @ home will be fine too, mine prefer sweet potatoes. Giardia should be ruled out along w/any possible worms.

Donating Senior Yorkie Talker | Thanks for this. I might be overdoing the treats perhaps, my heart melts when she puts the 'please daddy' look on I'm afraid. I'll get some sweet potatoes too. In appreciation, Martin |

| You might consider that Dr Remillard (a vet nutricianist who does special diet for dogs) says that home cooked meals must be accompanied with a vitamin and mineral supplement. We use balance It. Don't know if you can get that.

| Pet store dog vitamins are not sufficient to balance a dog diet. If you can't get balance it, then you need a vet nutritionist to write a diet with human supplements for the specific diet and dog.

| If it has been 10 days I would put in a call to your vet and see what they say. They might want you to bring her in or they might have an easy solution. 10 days seems like a long time. Poor Baby |

Have you tried the Lily's Kitchen treats? Organic, holistic etc. etc., - Harry loves them and we've had no recurrence of the problem. Some pet shops do them, as do Ocado! Beware the canned pumpkin over here, I can only find the 'sweet' kind, so ended up cooking pumpkin instead. I did find that sweet potato worked just as well, though. Good luck Martin, hope you get it sorted soon Sally + Harry x | |

| If its been 10 days, a visit to the vet would be my suggestion. Also, I would not feed her the canned peas unless they specifically say "no sodium" added. Frozen, unprocessed or fresh peas are always better than canned, imho.
