| There is also a study of liver shunt dogs at Cornell that is looking for genetic markers for future testing for breeding dogs. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...h-cornell.html

| My Teddy has multiple shunts. I'm not sure if its genetic or acquired, from what I have read so far I believe it's not genetic (at least in his case). He is doing great, we got him on a low protein diet, and he's gained weight. I knew about his liver shunt prior to adopting him but I fell in love with this little guy from day one. He is 2 1/2 years old, loving, playful, and gets along with his other fur siblings lol.

| Hi yorkie mommy! My name is Megan, and my yorkie Cricket was found to have a liver Shunt back in early June.she had as urgently on June 26th, 2013. She is on hills science diet L/D canned. She was recently diagnosed with microvascular dysplasia because her bile acid numbers were never in the normal range. She just turned 6 months old the end of September. She seems to be doing great and I love her to pieces! |
