| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. I'm sorry your girl is struggling with her ears. I don't have personal experience with this problem, but I do recall a Yorkie Talk member from South Africa whose dog had this. Here is an article written by a layperson (non medical professional) about narrow ear canals: Ear Canal Shrinkage in Dogs | eHow

| Welcome to Yorkietalk. I can't offer any advice but just wanted to wish you and your baby the best. I will keep you in my prayers and if you get any more info, be sure to come back and update us when you get the chance. My bf is partially deaf so I am very sensitive to people and animals with hearing trouble.

I'm not sure if this will help at all, but my parents had a miniature Schnauzer 'Sam' who was diagnosed with very narrow ear canals, and were told he had to have an operation to enlarge them or he would go deaf. At that point he was (I think) 9/10 years old, and my parents thought it a bit too late in life for such an operation. They ensured that he had his ear hair plucked monthly to keep them as clear as possible, and used ear drops as and when necessary. He lived to well over 15 years of age....and he never did go deaf I truly wish you all the very best in whatever decision you choose to make. Sally + Harry x | |
