| Any Thoughts--High BUN Level My Luci has a constant high BUN Level (40) on her Blood Work. All other Kidney values are normal, no protein in her urine, all urine tests have been. All other values (non kidney) of her blood work are also normal. She is having her Dental on Monday, Vet will start her on IV Fluids for 1 hour prior to dental and keep her on fluids until I pick her up. The only thing we can think is she is not drinking enough water. I do see her drinking water, but maybe she needs more?? I also know stress can cause this as well. I have had two other Yorkies previously that had kidney failure and nothing with Luci suggests this is happening. So, I am very familiar with kidney issues. Any thoughts or any one else have this issue?

| She eat's the canned Science Diet ID, due to a sensitive tummy. She had eaten about 2 hrs before I took her for her Blood work. I think on Monday when I take her in for Dental since she will have been fasting I will have blood drawn and the BUN Level re-checked.

| Katie had an elevated BUN last summer, but it was lower than Luci's level. When my vet called to tell me the results, I told him I didn't think she drank enough water. Once I found out that an elevated BUN could be caused by dehydration, I understood why Katie's veterinarian was pleased when I told him that. Although there was always ice water for Katie to drink when racing after her ball, she was jumping in her pool to cool off rather than drinking water. We tested her urine, and all was fine. I try all different creative ways to get Katie to get more fluids in while playing such as having frozen fruit.
