Katie had an elevated BUN last summer, but it was lower than Luci's level. When my vet called to tell me the results, I told him I didn't think she drank enough water. Once I found out that an elevated BUN could be caused by dehydration, I understood why Katie's veterinarian was pleased when I told him that. Although there was always ice water for Katie to drink when racing after her ball, she was jumping in her pool to cool off rather than drinking water. We tested her urine, and all was fine. I try all different creative ways to get Katie to get more fluids in while playing such as having frozen fruit.
