| Constipated and Worried My Yorkie is constipated. He is 4 pounds. He is 3 years old and this is the second time this has happened. His dog food is Merck the black bag with buffalo and sweet potatoes. The vet said he needs a high fiber dog-food. I'm very worried he is eating and drinking a little, he had an enema at the vet Thursday but he hasn't pooped since I brought him home Thursday about 3:30 PM, so about 48 hours I'm ready to head out to the vet again I'm so worried if anyone has advice I would surely appreciate any advice in regards to his diet and any medications I should ask for at the vet. He is so little I feel like crying. Amy Lynn |

| He pooped! OK he finally pooped, and it was a big poop! I used a syringe filled with water and Laxatone (used for elimination of hairballs in cats) about 5cc. Also every time I gave him wet food "Grandma's Thanksgiving Dinner" I added water to the wet-food so he would stay hydrated and to help with the softening his stool. He would not eat the "ID" can of digestion dog food. Everyone in the house was happy after he pooped even the Three Amigos Shi Tzus were happy! I hope this will help someone else with a tiny constipated Yorkie. |

| Oh Amy Lynn, I'm so glad to read your second post and see that your pup has found some relief. Princess Sophie hasn't had constipation but I always watch when she poops and early on it seemed like she was having trouble. She was very little and we started adding water and some wet food to her dry kibble and that solved the problem for her. I still moisten her food daily and watch her water intake, I have even been known to put drops of water on her nose to get her to drink. I think it's just going to be this way for her but at lease we know how to help. So glad you are relieved that your pup must be feeling better!! Blessings!!

| In the future, you can add some canned pumpkin, NOT pumpkin pie filling but plain pumpkin or fresh or frozen green beans to his diet to prevent constipation. Also keep check on his anal glands as IF they are full it can cause constipation. |
