| Puppy Teeth Lacey will be 7 months old on June 7. She still has almost all of her puppy teeth. Her adult teeth in the back are beginning to come in. I noticed two of them starting to come through Friday and this morning, they appear to be all the way in. But the puppy teeth are still there. This seems to be bothering her as she keeps opening her mouth (like yawning) and smacking her lips. She is not eating hard food at all. Just picks up a kibble and lets it drop from her mouth. She will eat soft food. She will chew her toys on the right side, but avoids the left side from what I can tell. I made a vet appointment for this evening just to make sure nothing is infected in her mouth. Is it normal for them to act this way when getting their adult teeth? I really wanted to wait until she was 8 months old to get any remaining baby teeth pulled when she is being spayed. At this rate, it looks like the baby teeth aren't going anywhere. I just hate her being uncomfortable.

| I'm not sure, but I think 7 months is a little old to still have most baby teeth, but everyone matures at different rates. I agree with the vet apoointment, and from reading other comments on the subject, the vet can remove retained baby teeth when she is fixed. I don't remember Huey acting weird about his food, just that I kept finding teeth all over the house! Then again, he never ate much at all until I changed his food at age 3 yrs. Before then, it was one bite at a time, and only ate kibble if he couldn't get something he liked better, Iike cheese.

| Sam and Piper will be 7 months tomorrow. They both have 'double' sets of canines. We took Piper to the vet this morning for her spay. Dr. H wants to wait at least 2-4 more weeks to see if the 4 puppy teeth will come on out on their own. She is 3.3 lbs and he doesn't want to put her under anesthesia more than once unless it's absolutely necessary. If they haven't come out on their own, then he will extract them while she's under from the spay.
