| scooting on butt after grooming? Jessie just had her first grooming from a professional. Anal lgands all that stuff. She is now scooting on her butt on the floor. I thought they did that before the glands were expressed? Shes never done that before..Is that normal? |

They may have done it wrong or if she was trimmed back there they could have clipped too close and it feels funny to her, so she is scooting.

| Groomers don’t go in the bum. They express them on the outside, so it doesn’t get all the juice. I would run her into the Vet and have them express her anal glands. I bet you they will tell you she still had some in there… I use to get Peanut’s done at the groomers, but within a month I would have to take him back- Then I was talking to my Vet about it and he told me what I said above- he had one of the techs check and they were still pretty full. I will only have the vet do them and I noticed I hardly need them. Some dogs need them more than others. Peanut also does the butt scoot after he gets his done, so she could be doing it just because, but it is always nice to check.. I know my Vet only charges me like 10$ to have them expressed and they cut his nails for free.

| If Jessie never needed her glands manually expressed before, I wouldn't do it again (after you clear up this problem). I agree with Deanna about having your vet take a look. When Max was a puppy, he scooted and had gland problems after a vet retrieved a stool sample manually. He had to be manually expressed a couple more times and then never again. He is 4.5 years old now and expresses naturally.

| Could also be itchiness from being trimmed back there.

| yeah she seems to be itchy all over. Must be a reaction to the shampoo and having all that hair removed (we had her pretty closely cut to match the side she was shaved on 10 weeks ago when they did bone grafting. It seems to be getting less now and she is running around with the girls acting normal..biting shoelaces and licking inside their ears! The groomer said she was not too keen on having the hair in her ears plucked..and she has yeast in them |

| This is what Jax does. He's always a bit itchy from the razor afterward.

Again yes, if you groomer is using a clipper; ask that she uses a scissors instead.

Oh my goodness they use a razor??? I would make sure it is clippers that are used, razors can be very dangerous and can cause cut's. I know that clippers can cause clipper burn, if done to close.

If the groomers mentioned something about the ears... then I would having that check out asap. Ear infections in dogs can get out of control fast. Also, I've learned that some groomers bath before using clippers and they need to be bathed after just like us people get bothered by fresh cut hair on us.

| Jess was at the vet the day before she was groomed. He said they were a little pink but the groomer could clean them and pluck out the hairs, He saw no infection. She (groomer) said to just keep them clean and dry and use ear cleaner, which I got . Guess they were pretty dirty (i didnt know how to clean them) she has stopped scooting and isnt itching as much, but boy is she giving me the stink eye all day! |
