| How badly did I mess up my puppy? I went to Petsmart, before I got my 7 week old puppy from a breeder, to prepare for my new arrival. As a first time owner I was overwhelmed by facts and tips given to me by an employee there. I bought numerous things while I was there. One of said things was a bag of Blue Buffalo dog food that was recommended to me by the same employee. I got everything home and then brought my puppy home. I've been feeding her for two weeks and she eats a good amount every meal. I was cleaning around her feeding area when something caught my eye. I've been feeding her small breed adult dog food. Once I notice I immediately took her food away and switch it to a bag of IVet I received from my vet. My question is how bad was it for me to feed her adult dog food for two weeks? Did I permanently mess up her growth? Thanks. |

| Thanks. I didn't think anything of it cause the food the breeder gave me were big kibble bits. When I opened up the Blue Buffalo the kibble bits were smaller so I thought all was well. To my surprise when I opened up the IVet the kibble is even smaller and she seems to love it. I tried mixing a little of Blue Buffalo with the IVet to ease into the transition but she eats around the few pieces of Blue Buffalo kibble left in there. |

| As far as doing any damage, your pup is just fine! It's still a quality food, even if it's the adult formula. No harm no foul, especially if she's switched over to the puppy food with no problems. Did you hang on to your receipt from PetSmart? I love that they will let you return an open bag of food if it doesn't work out for some reason. They may even give you a store credit if you don't have the receipt.

| I would be more worried about how leaving her mother before 12 weeks could be much more of a bigger problem then her eating adult food.

| Yeah, I know. I wasn't pleased with the breeder cause she made me get her early. I wouldn't have taken her but she was going to sell her to someone else so I had no choice. |

| If you have your receipt, it should be no problem at all. I've had to do it several times with my picky little stinker.

| I would definitely return that food as it was the employee's mistake in selling it to you for a puppy.

| Yes! They will! You have no idea how many opened bags of food I've returned. Lol. My pup is very picky Plus, the store employee recommended you purchase a bag of ADULT food for your PUPPY. So you'll be just fine.
