| New Yorkie pup has thin dry hair and very tiny We brought home our first yoke yesterday, he is 10 wks and less than a pound. The breeder says he was born half the size of his litter mates and that he is silver or blue, he has very thin and dry hair, the breeder said this was more to do with his color but I don't believe he is blue. He seems healthy, eats very well, goes potty just fine on his own, and is a feisty little guy . I didn't pay much for him the breeder wasn't claiming anything special about his size. I'm wondering if anyone can help with ideas of what I could do if anything. I will take him to our vet soon but I unfortunately don't have a lot of confidence in his diagnosing anything that is uncommon. He is a great vet and wonderful guy but old school. Thanks for help . I want our little man to be with us a long time. Tesa I can't get pics to upload but his hair is almost fine on his head and spine but fuller on his legs and shear and face |

| I don't know if anything is wrong with your little pup but you can do a search on this site for blue pups and see what info you can get. Wishing you luck with your little one.

| Can you post a picture of your pup so we can see IF it is a Blue or not ? There is a huge diff between a silver & a Blue Born Yorkie. Blue Born is a genetic fault & often a Blue Born pup will die shortly after birth & if they survive, they can have health issues. You can do a search here on YT for Blue born pups & get pics of some Blue Born pups, specifically Kendra with Mac & in her album you can see pics of Mac when he was a tiny pup & he is a Blue Born. |

| I'm pretty sure he is not blue His nose looks black to me and his pads, I know in chihuahuas their nose and foot pads are either gray/blue or grayish pink. I will try to post a pic but the wouldn't go thru last time. Also all her other pups in the litter and another litter were all healthy looking with full soft coats and a small but more normal size. Thank you all for the help. I did look through the threads that I thought would help me. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong but the pics won't upload, it's just said upload of file failed. |
