As for the spray, a little goes a long way. I use a quart spray bottle about half full with warm water, the add about 1/4 teaspoon. You might need to heat it in the microwave until the coco oil melts if the water isn't hot enough. Shake real well and spay on the coat. Works nice as a detangler, antistatic solution, and shine enhancer.

Coconut oil is a saturated fat, so at room temp in colder weather it will be semi solid to solid, but still easy to scoop with a spoon. I find it easier to give by the spoon if it's still somewhat solid.

Some put some in a small jar and run the jar under warm/hot water to melt it, then mix with water and pour over. I found I probably didn't do it right was turned out too oily. I usually put it on Uni after I have dried her, and part the hair well around her problem areas and spread it on the skin trying not to get too much on her actual hairs, just at the roots.

I just bought some at Walmart. I found it in the cooking oil section and it is called, Organic Coconut Oil by Spectrum. I hope this one is a safe brand to use. It is made in the USA, too. Has anyone tried this brand?

Spectrum is fine...you want the organic virgin coconut oil. You just do not want a refined coconut oil for most purposes. There is some benefit even in the refined product due to molecular chain length, but you get the most benefit from the 100% VOCO...and it tastes best. The 'lesser' oils smell and taste less like coconut...I waste no coconut oil, even if I get the wrong kind accidentally. With Spectrum brand you just need to closely read the label since their packaging is similar for refined and virgin.

I just started giving Coco coconut oil as well (1/8 tsp). I scoop and she licks it off the spoon in solid form.

Spectrum is a good brand. I've purchased some of their products in the past. I think you'll be okay

After reading this thread I bought some coconut oil at the health food store. Daisy and Teddy Bear lick it right from the spoon. I tried some myself and I swear it has taken away my craving for sweets. I don't really love the taste or consistency but if I am not craving sweets I love it.

Really?? I'll have to try that! I'm up for anything that contributes to less chocolate eating. Lol

I use it on my cuticles too. It helps them stay soft & it smells yummy

Costco has a 54 oz size jar for around $15. It is pure, unrefined, cold pressed and 100% organic extra virgin.

Teeka has been on it about a week and has had no tummy issues or loose stools. I started out with 1/8 tsp. then gradually up it to 1/4 tsp. (she is 3lbs.)

Honey did at first but no loose stool. Since she is on dry food I think I might have put to much in there. I put very little in her food and only give it to her once a day.
