Gerber Water? I believe I read that some YT'ers have used Gerber Water to help with allergies or other issues. My dog has eyelid irritation for which I have seen the Vet and eye specialist and for which I have used vet's medications. The problem clears up after a course of meds, but then happens again. I have been the allergy route etc etc, but wondered if GW might be worth a try??? I looked up the constituents of GW and the only outstanding thing seems to be a lack of Fluoride in the water. Does any one have an idea of what it is about GW that is effective to ease some of the dogs' ills? Could Fluoride be a cause of allergies?

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Some dogs especially puppies have a problems if local water has too many minerals. Gerber water is the same as distilled water where all the minerals are taken out, a few are added back for better taste. These few minerals don't seem to bother the pups, it's when water is overloaded. You're right, some, not all, Gerber water doesn't have any fluoride, but I don't think that's what's causing the problem. I did buy some with fluoride and it still worked for Joey when he was a puppy. He outgrew the problem and can drink regular water now without any tearing. I doubt if the water would help with your dog, since you are going to a specialist, I would continue to tell him the problem is back and let him try to figure out what's causing it. However, the water is only one dollar and it can't harm you're dog, so you could try it, but I would continue seeing the specialist. I wonder if a change of food with help?

GB water Thank you Nancy for your comments. I agree with you that water is probably not the problem, but I though it had helped some YT'ers? I may be wrong. I have changed food etc etc etc and feel it is more likely to be the outside (canyon) environment, as nothing else seems to work. He does love walking and rooting in the many bushes! When he goes into a more urban setting he does not have the issue. However, I thought GB worth a try. Stranger things have happened! LOL! Thanks again for your help. I do keep hounding the vet and eye doc, but allergies are hard and very frustrating to us and Vets! Last edited by dottiesyrky; 02-09-2013 at 09:41 AM. Reason: typo

GB water Thank you, he has Doggles but they come off in seconds, he hates them! I do try to reduce contact with shrubs etc but he usually sniffs before a pee. He likes to 'go' on shrubs/greenery. LOL! I thought at one time he was tearing, and that then he scratched around his eyes and thus the blepharitis. But now I do not think that is the cause. Now I have the hard cone on him to keep his paws off and the eye meds, and pray perhaps he will get better.

GB water Thanks again Nancy. Good article. Apart from allergy testing I think we have covered most points. I guess that will be next if it goes on. I appreciate your kindness and prayers, it is horrible for him. Perhaps the rain will clear the air?
