| Bought a dehydrator I just ordered a dehydrator so I can start making my dogs home made treats. I threw away every treat that we had that was made in China. We've been giving them Pupperoni and Beggin Strips made in the USA. the vet says these are okay as long as there not made in China. We still would rather not buy any commercial treats anymore if possible. I have a 2 year old Shih Tzu with a liver problem and I hope and pray that it wasn't from those treats we just threw out. I'll never forgive myself. We just didn't realize what these treats could do to your dogs. I want to thank all the people on YT to wake me up about this. I could have killed my dogs. |

| I think you will love making your own treats for your baby with your dehydrator....that way, you will know exactly what is in your treats! And it is really NO big deal....especially when you consider the possible alternative scenerio if you risk continuing to buy treats. and like some on here have pointed out ...."made in China" can be in itty, bitty, barely noticable print somewhere on some seam or crease in the bag and you miss it. Also, some ingredients are made in China, and then the treats are "assembled" in the US....and labeled, "Made in the USA".......Congratulations on your new dehydrator!!! |

| Ok, now I think I may need a dehydrator for dogs snacks. I know nothing about one though. How do they work and what to you all suggest to put in one? Can you make dried fruits?

| Many treats also contain sugar, salt, artificial flavorings, and anti freeze! Propylene Glycol .... even those made in the USA.

| Very true even treats made in the US can make your dog sick.

| You probably will do best just getting on line and looking at all the different kinds and prices and sizes.....I knew NOTHING about dehydrators and after all the research I did, I settled on Excalibur...they are different sizes....the main reason I chose this brand is because the air circulates/blows from back to front of the unit, and most of them, the air moves from the top down to the bottom, which in my mind, made for too many "obstructed" areas, as the air tried to move all around the horozontal trays of stuff....blowing from back to front, the air flows directly across the horozontal trays, with no obstructions. |

Buy skinless chicken breast- Cut into 1/4" piece (thin cut on sale can't be beat though)- Place in dehydrator- When the dogs start crying in the kitchen the treats are done (about 3-4 hours). I keep the homemade jerky in the fridge when done to make sure mold does not develop- Not that it last that long
