![]() I have a 8 week old loveable Yorkie named Olive. She has been with us for 2 days now. Not eating that well or at least in my estimation. Feeding her Purina Pro Plan Puppy (tiny size). She will eat a little of the food, I just this evening gave her the food with condensed milk and a little water. She will eat it out of my hand, maybe had 2-3 tablespoon fulls. Not sure this is enough. She is not exhibiting any signs of low BS....was just playing and now sleeping next to me. She currently weighs 3.5 pounds. Any guidance? ![]()

Was she BAT tested prior to going home with you? If you have not taken her in for a full check up book the appt now for as early as possible, and discuss with your vet your concerns. It is possible that with only 2days in your home, she is still stressed about her new environment - but stress is not the only reason pups do not have a good appetite.

| ![]() Do you know what she was eating for kibble (if any) at the breeder? Some 8 week olds aren't fully weaned yet and she may not be used to eating kibble (part of the reason small breeds "should" be kept with the mother until 12 weeks.) She may be one of the picky pups and she doesn't care for the food you have for her (I personally wouldn't feed Purina, though, I'd go with a higher quality food.) It is very likely/possible that she isn't quite settled in to her new home yet. As Gemy said, get your girl into the vet for a new puppy visit as soon as you can and discuss any and all concerns with them. Congrats on your new baby, I'm sure things will be fine! =)

![]() switch the condensed milk to goat's milk. cow's milk will cause diarrhea which can be very, very bad in a pup that young Last edited by My Sophia; 12-17-2012 at 10:53 PM. Reason: sp.

![]() If she's eating out of your hand I wouldn't worry too much -- new home, strange surroundings and all that. But, as others have said, you should take her to the vet for a first visit. This would be standard with any new pup.

![]() My baby didnt eat well at all until she was about 9 months old. I did all the research and put her on the best kibble I could find and while she liked it better than other kibble I had tried I still had to either make a game out of it, hand feed her, etc. I finally switched her to Stella and Chewies freeze dried, which she has now been on for three months and she loves it without games or hand feeding. She is a completely different eater after switching to that. It's expensive, but does me so much good to know she is enjoying meal time, finally.
