| should I feed her after she throws up? Emy has had some sort of upset stomach yesterday and this morning, she threw up her breakfast about 1/2 hour after I fed her..trouble is she looks at me like she's starving...should I give her anything to eat? I did boil up some chicken breast yesterday for her, but this morning I gave her the regular breakfast of kibble and a few veggies. I called the vet yesterday about it, I had started giving her some joint supplements cut in half of the dose for her weight, the vet said to stop the supplements for now. This morning I didn't give her any, and she still threw up...it looks like its coming out whole, maybe she is eating too fast, she is fine otherwise, drinking, peeing, pooping, not much today, cause she didn't have much yesterday...I told the vet if she keeps throwing up I will bring her in next week. My question is, once she's thrown up, her stomach is obviously empty. Should I wait to give her something in her tummy a while, or what? I'm with her 24/7, she doesn't get into anything cause I'm always with her. When I walk her I don't let her eat anything....seems like when I picked her up a couple days ago, it sounded like she was burping everytime I picked her up...maybe she's got gas? She is only 9 months old, and is just coming out of her first heat. she's obviously hungry, cause right now she's giving me the stinkeye at my back, and going grrrrrrrrr, trying to get my attention..LOL |

| oh , poor baby. it could be that she is eating too fast.. i would wait a couple hours after vomiting before you feed her again.. you could try handfeeding her meals a few kibbles at a time, that will slow her down. |

| Once Rosie throws up (she has a very sensitive tummy) numerous times, the vet always makes me let her tummy rest. He makes sure she gets water but has me pull food. Then we usually get started back on food by using Science Diet I/D. Then I go back to her normal routine. Maybe letting her tummy rest would be a good idea. Did your vet mention anything about this? How many days has she thrown up? Is she throwing up every meal? With these little ones, it is so important to keep them hydrated. If she is still throwing up I would get her in to see the vet ASAP.

| she's thrown up this morning, yesterday not at all, and the day before she threw up everytime I fed her.....the vet said to cut out the supplements, cause I just started her on them, probably the day she started throwing up...I would give her 1/2 the dose after she ate her breakfast, maybe it just doesn't agree with her tummy. Now this morning after she threw up...she just looked at me waiting to be fed, I waited a little bit, then I gave her 1/2 tablespoon of chicken & rice that I processed in my ninja...and she kept it down fine, around lunchtime I gave her another 1/2 tablespoon of the chicken & rice...she kept it down fine....just a little while ago, she's looking at me, she's hungry, so I gave her 3 little kibbles, she's fine so far....I'm beginning to think she's eating too fast, and maybe I'm giving her too much at one time....cause if she was ill, she wouldn't even be eating or keeping down the chicken mixture...wonder how big a yorkie's stomach is? probably not even 1/2 the size of my fist....so that's not very big to have kibble swell up...I am keeping my eye on her very closely today...she's acting fine and drinking water...right now she is whining for food....jeeeez...I'm afraid to give her anything....for fear it will be too much.... |

| I'd let her rest 2-4 hours, then feed a small amount of chicken and plain white rice (1:1). If she vomits again, wait 4-6 hours, then feed a small amount again. If vomiting continues more than 24 hours, she needs to see the vet asap. If there's blood in the vomit... then see the vet right away. If she keeps the small meal down, try another small meal in a hour or so. If she keeps that down, increase the amount by a little bit and feed again in an hour... repeat till she's eating a normal amount, then start mixing in her regular diet with the chicken and rice gradually over a few days. Joint supplements are very rich. Mine never could take the whole dose.

| so far so good, she's sleeping on my feet at the kitchen table, I'll probably skip the joint supplement for a while until she straightens out....thats what the vet said to do, her vomit had no blood in it or anything like that, and she has kept the chicken and rice down today...so I'll keep her meals very small and gradually work back up to her normal kibble meal....she's about 7.5 lbs, probably closer to 8 now, so she's not a teeny tiny....still I don't want her throwing up her meals....she needs to slow down I think.... she was gassy the last couple of days...if you know what I mean....like farting.... |

Has she had any kinds of chews in the past week? Rawhide, dental, greenies, etc?

| no...she hasn't had any chews or anything like that, from being on this forum I've been educated about that, I am anal about what she puts in her mouth.....so its Monday morning, and I just gave her a little kibble, nothing else...we'll see what happens, she was ok ever since yesterday morning's throwup...haven given her a little chicken and rice during the day, then a little kibble before bed....she's drinking water like normal...could have been a gassy stomach upset....hopefully this morning will be normal....mornings seem to be when we have a problem... |

Just want to emphasize that a bland diet can really be helpful in these situations... no rush to get her back to her normal diet. Sometimes their tummies just need a little break to get over what's ailing them....
