| How to fight FLEAS! I've just compiled a bunch of sites that has some good info on fleas & how to get rid of them. Please share your ideas & any links! How to get rid of fleas Naturally: Video: Natural Ways to Get Rid of Fleas | eHow.com How to Get Rid of Fleas Naturally | Veterinary Secrets Blog with Dr. Andrew Jones, DVM How to Get Rid of Fleas Naturally with Baking Soda and Salt | eHow.com How to Get Rid of Fleas Naturally: 4 Methods - wikiHow (For #4 Making a flea collar: If using tee tree oil, please use it in diluted form, just 7 drops can cause severe poisoning & sometimes even death! For smaller dogs & cats, a lower amount can be lethal. Cedar Oil would be a good alternative to tee tree oil. Some dogs will try to take out the collar, if it gets stuck between their mouth, they can ingest the oils accidentally. Please use caution when using any collars.) How to get rid of fleas using Pest Control: HowStuffWorks "Flea Control" How to Eliminate a Flea Infestation in Your Home: 16 steps Fleas – Flea Life Cycles - How to Get Rid of Fleas I've seen a flea jump on Mimi when we were outside. It quickly disappeared into her hair. I wondered, 'how do they see our pets?' From: HowStuffWorks "How Fleas Work" "Although newly emerged fleas need to find food within a few days, adults can go for a couple of months without a meal. Flea pupae can also stay in their cocoons for up to a year, waiting to sense the body heat and vibrations that signal the presence of nearby hosts." "hungry adult fleas flock to you and to anything else that has a pulse" imagine the glorified vampires looking like fleas! not as sexy now, are they? loll

| Greasy coat and Frontline Frontline seems to work OK on my Yorkie but he has a greasy coat so I bathe him once a week. The vet tells me that the bathing removes the Frontline - I thought it was waterproof. Does anybody have experience with this that they can share. Thanks for the flea-busting tips in the articles -- a lot of good ideas i'm going to follow! |

| Thanks for the information Jenny! I'm sure this will help a lot of people who are dealing with fleas. We had a breakout last summer and I will never forget how horrible that was. They just wouldn't go away! Thankfully my dogs didn't seem to be itchy or bothered by them, I was just disgusted!

TG colder weather is approaching & the fleas will hibernate or stay dormant, whatever it is they do. But if your house is infested, keep up w/the vacuuming (daily), washing sheets (if the fur butts sleep w/you), also washing their bedding (weekly) if the heat is turned on. One of the tips was to keep your house cold & keep the windows open...not happening here (it doesn't even get that cold in CA)! loll

| Great articles. I'm a huge fan of organic food grade DE (live neos. too) and cedar oil.

| Nematodes can be good in the garden, that's true. In your home, try diatomaceous earth or plain old borax on your carpets. It's surprisingly effective. Here's a link to some good info: How to Get Rid of Fleas: A Three-Step Plan | Howtogetridoffleasez.com |

| Thanks for the link RobertG, I always want to go the natural route b4 using any chemicals. One think I wanted to add, if using essential oils, lemongrass oil is a good bug/flea repellant, but it attracts bees! So be very careful when using lemongrass oil.
