Greasy coat and Frontline Frontline seems to work OK on my Yorkie but he has a greasy coat so I bathe him once a week. The vet tells me that the bathing removes the Frontline - I thought it was waterproof. Does anybody have experience with this that they can share. Thanks for the flea-busting tips in the articles -- a lot of good ideas i'm going to follow! |
Thanks for the information Jenny! I'm sure this will help a lot of people who are dealing with fleas. We had a breakout last summer and I will never forget how horrible that was. They just wouldn't go away! Thankfully my dogs didn't seem to be itchy or bothered by them, I was just disgusted! |

TG colder weather is approaching & the fleas will hibernate or stay dormant, whatever it is they do. But if your house is infested, keep up w/the vacuuming (daily), washing sheets (if the fur butts sleep w/you), also washing their bedding (weekly) if the heat is turned on. One of the tips was to keep your house cold & keep the windows open...not happening here (it doesn't even get that cold in CA)! loll |
Great articles. I'm a huge fan of organic food grade DE (live neos. too) and cedar oil. |

Nematodes. |
Nematodes can be good in the garden, that's true. In your home, try diatomaceous earth or plain old borax on your carpets. It's surprisingly effective. Here's a link to some good info: How to Get Rid of Fleas: A Three-Step Plan | Howtogetridoffleasez.com |
Thanks for the link RobertG, I always want to go the natural route b4 using any chemicals. One think I wanted to add, if using essential oils, lemongrass oil is a good bug/flea repellant, but it attracts bees! So be very careful when using lemongrass oil. |
Thanks for the information Jenny....will definitely be trying some of these. |
Good thread to bump! Tis the season for fleas you know! |
