| Jaeger gets fed at 6a and 6p. He gets a snack (veggies) around noon, and sometimes he gets a small snack late at night-depends on if he asks for it or not (and he will!) My guy is 9 lbs, but he's wiry.

| My girls eat breakfast between 7:00 - 8:00 and dinner between 4:00 - 5:00 (home cooked) and a kibble snack before bed. If Curri doesn't have a bedtime snack she throws up bile during the early early morning hours because her tummy is empty __________________ that's exactly what Emy has been doing lately...I used to give her 3/4 cup first thing in the morning...she would eat half of it around 6:00 am, and then eat the rest of it around 4-5 when we are eating dinner, but she wakes up early in the morning around 3:00 am and starts heaving, I take her out of her crate and rush her to a potty pad where she throws up that yellow bile, no food in it....so I'm thinking that her little is just too empty..so now I'm portioning out 1/4 cup 3x's a day, hopefully that will help..she goes to bed early..around 6:00 pm... cause I go to the bedroom to watch TV and hubby is in living room watching sports or something...so I put her in her crate next to me, cause she doesn't have full roam of house...it does relieve me to see that Emy is not the only one that heaves early in the morning...I was getting concerned, but it does sound like an empty stomach... |

| I feed mine as follows: Morning feed (between 7am -10) Mid day feed (between 4-7pm) Nightime (between 9-12p) He's always the hungriest for the late night feedings for some reason.

| My Bella is a nibbler. She does not want her bowl to ever be empty. She barks if it is. She eats during the night alot and packs food in her mouth into out bed many nites. She wakes us up crunching! I just let her eat whenever she wants. She is too funny! |

| YT 1000 Club Member | I have two kinds of food out 24/7. My guys eat Beneful for Breakfast (about 4-5am), and Wellness SBites for Dinner (about 4-5pm). Between meals, they snack on the 8+ types of snacks they have available, but, definitely favor the more expensive ones.

| For those of you that are feeding twice a day....how much do you give them in the morning? And for those who feed 3x a day, how much and when do you feed? I used to give Emy her whole daily allowance 3/4 cup is what I am feeding her...she is probably over 6 lbs now, but lately she was eating it all at one time, then around 4-5 pm she is hungry, so I started feeding her 1/4 cup at 6:00 (thats when we get up) then at 11:00 am, then the last 1/4 cup around 4:00 pm....she acts like she's still hungry after she eats at 4:00, I don't want to overfeed her. she wakes up alot in wee hours of morning and throws up yellow bile, so that seems to me to be an empty stomach....she goes into her crate around 6:00 pm, cause that when I go to the bedroom to watch my TV, and she doesn't have free roam of the house, so her crate is right next to me. She sleeps till about 1:00 am, I wake up and take to her potty pad where she pees, then we lay down on the couch till 6:00, for some reason she won't go back to sleep in her crate, but she will on top of me... I'm not sure how much to feed her and when to feed her now, don't want her throwing up from an empty stomach. Should I start feeding her 2x a day instead, so she'll get more in afternoon feeding...? |

I can understand why she's hungry. I wouldn't start feeding her 2x a day, i would stick to 3x. But i think you should change the hours. I'm feeding my Jackie like this: - 20 grams around 7 am - 20 grams around 2 pm - 20 grams around 9.30 pm During the day she gets a few treats so she doesn't get seriously hungry. As you can see i always wait around 7 hours between meals. If you don't want your baby to get hungry i think you should try that too.

| yes, that is when we eat dinner around 4:00, and she likes to eat when we eat for some reason......well, we are both in bed and asleep around 7:00 pm....she actually goes to sleep around 6:00 pm, I usually fall asleep watching tv in bed, so don't know how to change hours, unless I just get her up from sleeping and try to get to eat something....though, when she's sleeping and just waking up, she doesn't like to eat anything...maybe when we get up around 1:00 am to potty, should I put some food in her dish and see if she'll eat something? thanks for your help... |

| so if I wait 7 hours, she eats at 6:00 am, then I should feed her again around 1:00 in afternoon, and then the last meal around 8:00? which we are both asleep already (hum...don't know how to work it out)....at around 11:00 am, she seems to be sniffing her bowl....should I give her a treat instead?? |

She starts sniffing her bowl because she's used to get her meal at 11am. As soon as you'll start giving her food at 1pm instead of 11 am, she'll adjust. It'll just take a week or so. Instead of a full meal at 11am, give her a treat. Or a greenie, i usually do that. ![]() Good luck! If you'll decide to change her eating habit - let us know how that'll turn out.

| ok so I took your advice, thanks for answering so quickly...I fed her at 6 am 1/4 cup, then I waited till 1:00 and gave her another 1/4 cup. I'll feed her the last 1/4 cup at 6:00 pm, and see if that helps, she gobbled down all her food at 1:00, acting like she was starving or something, looking at me like...give me more...but I don't want to give her too much and get her too full...also since I've had her her stools are soft...she's had a couple times that she had firm ones, but most of the time they are soft, so I also took the advice from here and bought some pumpkin yesterday at the store, starting with her yesterday 2nd feeding giving her 1/2 tsp, she loves it by the way...and have given her 1/2 tsp this morning and this afternoon, we went out to poop right after the 1:00 feeding and she pooped, it looked alot better, much more firmer than it has been for the last couple months, my question is...can I supplement her feeding with pumpkin, or is that too much pumpkin to give her...it says its good fiber on the can...I'm wondering once I stop her poops will go back to the old soft serve type... |

| I free feed too. I always have kibble down. I occasionally hear him crunching kibble in the middle of the night. Just a few pieces. I feed him a small amount of wet food with kibble mixed in at 5:00pm. He also gets treats during a day, just a few. That's it!

| so you don't keep track of how much they are eating if you free feed? I did that at first, but I put down her whole 3/4 cup at a time, it got to by about 3:00 she ate it all, so that would be a long till morning...or do you just keep food in it and she will adjust herself...Emy threw up her food she gobbled so much of it down....she ate too much...thats when I decided on 3x's a day... |

Jackie always eats fast - hungry or not. It's just her thing. But i never had any problems with that so ...Her stools are soft? What kind of food are you feeding her? Did you change her diet recetly? Does she eat kibble? Pumpkin is great. Jackie had a soft stool as well (she got poisoned outside ... ), but we gave her boiled rice and it was ok. She loved rice and her stool went from totally soft to hard as a rock. ![]() I wouldn't supplement all of her food with pumpkin. I didn't do that with rice. Jackie just had a bit of rice with her food. Or she had an extra meal during the day. About free feeding (just my opinion): I wouldn't free feed her now. I have been thinking about free feeding JAckie, but i think she is so used to her feeding routine she would just eat constantly if i would free feed her. But again - that's just my opinion.
