| the weight should be more how much does the "frame" of your pup need. Some yorkies are tall and long and some are more Cubby, that bone structure type can carrie more weight and still look really small... the fine boned tall yorkies may weight less but look a little bigger becasue they are tall. What I did after Remy was "grown" is looked up how to tell if a dog is over or under weight and as long as she is healthy not worry about it so much. You can check the ribs, and the back bone feels and if they have a belly For example- Remy charted to be 3.5 lbs. She was so very skinny! When she gained to over 4 lbs. I was so happy.. them she kept going and got a little chubby. Now at 2 1/2 years she has settled into the weitght that is perfect for her bone structure.. which is 5 lbs and she goes up to 5.25 lbs.. any more and she has a "belly" lol

| as someone said in a previous post the adult weight of a yorkie depends mostly on frame and body structure. for example my boy oscar is 7 1/2 pounds but he looks the same size as his 6 pound yorkie playmate. oscar has short legs and a small frame and square body type |

| I have seen and heard of yorkies from 2 pounds all the way to 20. The standard says not to exceed 7 pounds. Many yorkies can be over 7 pounds and not be overweight. Your vet should be able to tell you if he is overweight or not.

| I just don't want her be over weight for her frame. but the people said that she might get to be 8pd. since her parents one of them was 6 and the other one was 7 I think that what she told us. |

♥Love My 3 Furrbutts♥ Donating Member | A 20lb yorkie is not necessarily over weight. Yorkies come in all shapes and sizes...anywhere from 2-20lbs, some maybe more. I have a 10lber and he isn't overweight, just a bigger boy! My teapot!

| Well just because there is a 20 pound yorkie doesn't mean that yorkie is overweight. There are many bigger yorkies on this board who are not overweight.
