| We use and love wen on our dogs too but the almond mint irritated PRINCESS so we use the lavendar on her and the skin kids. I was leery of using it on Elvis at first due to the rosemary extract oil as a natural preservative but he has been fine with it. Although I still use an organic baby shampoo to remove allergens after heavy exposure and the neem during breakouts for ita healing properties and being baturally antibacterial.

| I'm glad I'm not the only one who is using Wen on their puppies! I have the Almond Mint and Lavender formulas but I have not tried them on the dogs. I like using the Tea Tree formula for several reasons. Tea Tree Oil is a natural antiseptic, antibiotic and anti-fungal treatment. Some people are allergic to the oil, however, so before you douse your dog in this shampoo test it on a small area. Before switching to Wen, I struggled with the following symptoms which continued to worsen for years (and while I was a self-conscious teen in high school, nonetheless!): -Dry, itchy scalp -Dandruff -Swollen scalp -Redness of the scalp -Hair loss in handfuls -Extremely thin hair (people would ask if I was sick) -Brittle hair that would curl (now my hair is naturally straight!) -Soreness and tenderness of the scalp -The emotional and physical pain often brought me to tears Since I had the same symptoms as Penny and your dog, I will describe my experience when switching to Wen. I think that your dog will have a similar experience. Keep in mind that the scalp is already damaged, inflamed, etc. Because of the properties of tea tree oil, I felt a slight burning sensation when I first applied it to my damaged scalp. It was not painful, it was surprising but soothing. The warm feeling changed to cool relief after a few minutes. I just let my scalp soak for a long time in the cleansing conditioner. When I rinsed my scalp retained the cool feeling, felt moisturized, and I could feel the swelling going down. I had never felt my hair so silky either. After I finished drying I was astonished at the instant results. I had movie star hair! My hair was so silky and flowing, naturally voluminous, and my scalp felt great. I went to everyone in the house to show them my hair and they were just as amazed. I was so uplifted. If I was a dog, I'd would have been running all over the house at full speed and rolling around with joy! My scalp and hair improved at a phenomenal rate after my first use of Wen. After several months, my regrown hair was of a different and better texture than ever before. Once my scalp was healed, the burning sensation went away when washing my hair. Now I just experience a cool, soothing feeling. You can buy a small trial bottle from the website I linked. If your dog is allergic to the tea tree oil, try a different formula. I'm confident that this will be the solution for you! |

| Awesome! I was afraid after the mint aeemed irritated to use tea tree...we used it in raw oil form abd it seemed irritatibg. But it seems worth a try now so thanks fir sharing it might be a better solution for us at keast. The winter vanilla is my personal fav I irder it off eBay now since its only seasonal and the pumpkin flavor last winter was amazong on the dogs! I was concerned with rosemary as it causes seizures in epileptics and Elvis has epilepsy.

Yorkie Talker | He was there not long ago, but is going in the morning. I talked to vet this evening and she wants to check him again, but think will try atopica again. I wasn't sure it was doing anything, but without it his skin considerably worse

| To me it is just wrong to put a dog on medications and treatments because of "allergies" and not make an effort to find out what the allergy is caused by. Since the skin is showing the major reaction food would be the first thing to look at. Grain free is a start but there are certain meat sources that need to be checked out as well. If the food is using chicken or other protein sources full of hormones, steroids and antibiotics (like we eat) that could very well be a culprit. There are pet food companies that use only grass fed meat sources or fish from clean water areas. It takes several weeks to see the change in the skin so don't get discouraged. I don't think an animal should have to spend it's life with an affliction caused by an allergen. |

| someone already posted this question to you, but has your vet done SKIN SCRAPINGS on her? if not then this might not be a allergy at all. It could be something like a bacteria or staph infection on the skin, that is not going to clear up being treated for allergies. Perhaps it is as simple as mites , those are so microscopic and can make a dog extremely uncomfortable. I just wanted to put this out there in case your dog has not been tested or had skin scrapings. my shih tzu ended up with a bacteria infection only could be found through a skin scraping. She was placed on antibiotics, was shaved down, and I had to use a special hypoallergenic shampoo twice a week bought at the vet office. She is fine now. It was not allergy related.

| There are inhalent allergies, food allergies, flea allergies, contact allergies, . I don't need YOU to I.form me of anything. Me and my vet know my story.....you don't. I'm trying to help "Elvis the Yorkie" in a non judgemental way. I think Elvis has a perfectly FINE owner. |

| I've had my dog on a limited ingredient diet already.....most of the year she's fine now but she has a season allergy....pollens. Can't do anything about that but Atopica. I opted out of expensive allergy shots. Testing doesn't test for EVERYTHING they could possibly be allergic to....just most likely and...often times....it doesn't work. I want my dog to be happy and comfortable...and I want to enjoy my dog....I don't want to be MISERABLE AND MY DOG MISERABLE perpetually chasing some "ghost" of a sickness and some "ghost" of a cure....I went down that road a bit and I'm through with it. I realize there are some people that get off on it.....not me....doesn't sound like Elvis's owner gets off on it either. |

| Perhaps a raw diet would be the best remedy for Elvis as you can give foids electively to remove any food allergens while bennefiting from raw fruits cegis and meats. Raw meat is icky or too hard to handle, we love stella and chewys freeze dried raw patties.

And my Marcel was on Atopica for a couple years...I'm doing a trial w/ him off of it right now. But, if he had bad symptoms, I'd put him back on in a heartbeat. The Derm will give you options...but the nice thing about Atopica is that while it's ramping up to therapeutic level, you can also give steroid shots and/or use that Temaril-P in the meantime. You've had skin scrapings done etc..? Does he bite, chew, lick his paws btw?
