| I have used Advantage for what seems forever and have never had any problems with it.

| Thank you. My vet does carry Advantage. Ladyjane, you have had enough different doggies to try Advantage on that you should know. :-D How are you so blessed to not have fleas issues in TX? My poor Chipper is so eaten up by chiggers that I am constanly spraying him with anti-itch. Will spray their outdoor pen as soon as the safe bug spray arrives. Even doing that makes me nervous. But at least it is not the stuff my dh uses. ~Joanne~

| There are many insightful posts on this subject. I agree with the poster who stated to always allow a day or two between giving heartworm and flea medication, as that will allow you to hopefully trace any side effects to the respective medications, should they occur. I have given Comfortis and yes, it did indeed create less than stellar stools for my BC, who passed away a few years ago. Here is the post which really concerned me (read: responses) regarding Comfortis: Comfortis the flea-killing wonder-drug, and the general state of flea drug resistance | petMD I have only needed to give flea medication once in 3 years and used Advantage without any issues at all. The heartworm preventative I am currently using is Heartgard (not the Plus). I don't feel that I run any risk of my dog contracting Roundworms (he doesn't eat random rodents) or Hookworms, as he lives in a condo. I may change my mind on this, however, that is what we will do for the next 5 months. He previously was on Interceptor with no issues. I dislike combo drugs, such as Trifexis, for the reason that I don't see any need to consistently give flea medication, unless I see a flea.

| Thanks. I'm going to debate btwn Heartguard and Iverhart I guess. My vet told me that breaking up Heartguard would be fine, as long as he gets ALL of it. So I could maybe break into two pieces, and give it to him like a pill? I don't think I am comfortable with Trifexis, because like said, I don't need anything extra for fleas. We really don't have a flea problem - mainly ticks. I skip a lot of doses of flea/tick meds and mainly use as needed. I tend to give one dose every 2 months in the summer, and less in the winter. K9 Advantix seems to work a lot longer (and better) than Frontline for us. But I won't mess with heartworms so I give that monthly. And believe me, I am a very "the less chemicals the better" dog owner. I do very minimal vaccines, and use as little flea/tick topicals as possible.

| I break Heartgard up for a couple of mine because they cannot chew that big piece. It is ok as long as they eat all of it.

| Quincy takes Trifexis I hate it have to break it in half and put it in hot dog pieces. He loved the Heartgard and couple of days later would give the Comfortis. I have one more dosage of Trifexis then going back to Heartgard and Comfortis. Can't wait!

| Chase and Calvin get Trifexis. They eat it better than they did the Sentinel. |

| Tibbe's Heartguard Plus came today & he wolfed down his first dose like it was a real treat. It was so big, it took him a while to eat it but he wanted more! Whew! So glad he likes it. Now, if we just won't have any side effects, I'll be happy.
