I'm going to debate btwn Heartguard and Iverhart I guess. My vet told me that breaking up Heartguard would be fine, as long as he gets ALL of it. So I could maybe break into two pieces, and give it to him like a pill?

I don't think I am comfortable with Trifexis, because like said, I don't need anything extra for fleas. We really don't have a flea problem - mainly ticks.

I skip a lot of doses of flea/tick meds and mainly use as needed. I tend to give one dose every 2 months in the summer, and less in the winter. K9 Advantix seems to work a lot longer (and better) than Frontline for us. But I won't mess with heartworms so I give that monthly. And believe me, I am a very "the less chemicals the better" dog owner. I do very minimal vaccines, and use as little flea/tick topicals as possible.
