Dry food recommendation?

Hi everyone! Just wondering if anyone had a good recommendation for dry food?? My yorkie is almost 2 yrs old and I've had him since he was 10 weeks. He's never been a fan of dry food. I keep a bowl out all the time so he always has access to it and I've tried a BUNCH of different brands. I'm not worried that he's not eating enough, because he has a good diet otherwise, but I feel like I'm wasting alot. If anyone has any suggestions, just let me know!

I haven't kept up with dog foods lately because I have been sticking to what works for us: Fromm 4 Star Nutritionals. My guys eat the Chicken a la Veg.

When you leave kibble down, toss it at the end of the day. Kibble spoils, especially the better dog foods that have fewer preservatives. My guys won't touch kibble that his been in their bowls for more than 8 hours, and my one boy turns up his nose when we get to the bottom of a bag. I have to open a fresh bag so that he will eat.

What does your boy eat?

I use blue buffalo wilderness small breed. I used to mix it with a little wellness grain free stew.

Fromm is great, so are Acana, Orijen, Canine Caviar, and alot really like Wellness. Personally I really like Ziwi Peak - It's an air-dried food, and my dogs think it's treats!

As for your problem with freshness Maximo - My vet suggested I store it in gallon size ziplocks in the freezer until ready to feed. I don't leave food down - I can't with the number I'm feeding and several on special diets, so if it's not gone in 5-10 minutes I pick it up and offer it for a snack later on.

I prefer Taste of The Wild. Called TOWT on here a lot. It's actuallt the first second fouth and seventh highest rated dry food in the last independant health study. I prefer to feed the Roasted Wetlans Foul flavor, I have thw slamon before too but it was a bit too rich a protein for my mini Schnauzer definately avoid the lamb and other red meat for Yorkies its often just too rich and you have a tiny one. Best of luck oh yeah TOTW is also very inexpensiv, grains free gluten free, and a hypoallergenic food especially important qualities for a tiny. Definately give the wetlands flavor a try...well your dog not yoy however it is people grade

Ingredient wise it's a good food - but I always have to tell people to be careful as it is made by Diamond pet foods - and alot of their products are getting recalled right now. They've had alot of quality control issues over the years. That said - I've known many animals, dogs and cats, that thrive on TOTW - and it is one of the more affordable grain and gluten free foods on the market.

Loving FROMM's Chicken a La Veg so far at least only bought it earlier this week. Roxy went onto it cold turkey from Wellness- No GI issues at all . The rest I am trying to transition on to it slowly but they keep picking the new stuff out and leaving the old. They seems to all love it. Buddy (Golden) was not tolerating the Wellness very well- Loose, smelly, frequent poops and very gassy. He was previously on Proplan but I had to take him off of it since Purina makes dog treats that are making dogs sick and killing some. My precious Zoey was 1 of their victims. I myself never plan to feed a Purina product ever again. On a happier note Buddy's poop has been solid since starting to go to the FROMM. Hopefully it will stay this way

Feed what works best for you and your dog . Do your research. "When you know better you do better"

I have always been a fan of Blue Buffalo. I feed Sasha the Wilderness varieties and she absolutely loves the food. It's grain-free and has 3 different formulas: chicken, duck and salmon. They also make a puppy, small breed and I believe a few others that are rather new but I've always just used the regular kinds for Sasha as she seems to prefer larger kibble anyways.

We use Science Diet's Toy and Small Breed dry food. When I first got Avery from his other momma, she had him on wet food and he was underweight. He didn't enjoy it at all. So I switched foods and then he became accustomed to his food changing. You definitely want to stick with something and NOT keep changing it. Your dog will begin to like it-- it's just something new and may take some time. If, after a month, your pup is loosing weight and still not really eating it, then should you switch.

I thought that was specific to Chicken Soup spin off manufactured by Diamond as well their own name brand food- here's the recall list...TOTW has never been recalled that I'm aware of.

Chicken soup is their second or third recall lately, and while not recalled yet - there's alot reporting issues with Natural Balance that they also manufacture.

I would do that if I had a bigger freezer. For now, I stick to the 5 pound bags. The clerks at the store are always trying to push the 15-30 pound bags on me.

I'm so glad my guys eat the same thing and the same amount, lol. You must feel like a short order cook feeding your pack.

I went to PetSmart to purchase the Blue Buffalo Wilderness Puppy (the one with the baby wolf on the bag) and they told me not to use that kind as it was for large breeds only and it contained too much protein for a yorkie. I went with, on their recommendation of course, the Blue Buffalo Basics Turkey and Potato. Was that a bad choice???
