| AH! Sorry I didn't respond earlier, I missed the replies on this post At first, we had her on the paste & on the pill. Now if I can recall correctly (she was on the paste, the pill, and an antibiotic) so I'm trying to remember which she had when! She had the proviable pill once a day (im sure of) and 1 mL of proviable paste in the morning and 1 mL at night. Now don't quote me on that, we finished up the paste, and now she has the proviable pill once a day sprinkled on her dinner! She just gobbles it up!! She's been on just the proviable pill for probably 2 + months now. So far so good. She's about 7.5 pounds now! My little chunky monkey ![]() ![]()

| I've used Proviable for Ellie for a very short time. I don't think it did a darn thing, but then I don't think it hurt her either. It's probably not wrong to try them for a dog with intestinal issues, but there are varied opinions about whether they work or not. I know one study done on dogs with tummy bugs did show that it took one day off of the diarrhea. For a dog with a severe and chronic IBD issue, I'd be very surprised if these helped much. Just like with any drug or supplement, probiotics do have side effects. They seem to be limited to GI issues. This, in some dogs, can possibly be related the GI environment changing. Nevertheless, for dogs that are already sick, if this makes it worse there can be problems. So always ask the vet first.

| Thanks so much for the advice Im really excited to try this with her. Her vet seemed to think it wouldnt hurt giving it a try at this point and after reading reviews about proviable it sounds like it could work for her because it has worked for other dogs with similiar problems. Im keeping my fingers crossed that this works! I just switched her to cisapride on saturday. It seems to be helping a little more then the reglan was. The only thing Ive noticed is when she gets hungry she shakes until I give her food. She used to always get dry food and she loves the canned food so much. Im wondering if its just because how much she likes the canned food. Hoping its not something bad causing her to shake when hungry. I feel like I notice every little change now with her since all of this started in december. |

| I have used it for our Keally who is gone to heaven now and I use it for my Kinder now. I just give a pinch of powder every morning on her breakfast and she has done very well. She can not have yogurt so this has been a wonderful product for us. Hope this helps. Susan |

| We have a 3-month old, 3.4 lb. Yorkie, Abigayle, that we just got. We took her to the Vet and had her checked out and felt so lucky she was in "perfect" health ~ until...diarrhea and then passing blood. The vet told us it was probably due to our changing her food. It didn't get better so they did a test for giardia and she tested positive for it! The vet wanted her on Science Diet (which IMO is not good for animals) and an antibiotic and probiotic. I called the Fromm Company and spoke to their Director of Nutrition and explained the situation. (I love this about this Company ... they are only a phone call away) He told me that the meds they put her on is like a nuclear bomb to her gut and that along w/these meds it is a MUST to replace and heal her little body. His recipe:1/4 c boiled or broiled chicken without the skin & bones and 1/2 c white or brown organic rice 2x/day. Her body will let us know when to start transitioning her to either kibble 10-15/day or raw (if that's what I want to feed). He said this journey will be alot like the cha cha ... but giardia is the worst parasite for an animal to try and get rid of not to mention the long-term damage it may do. He also told me to get a probiotic and his suggestion(s) are: Probiotic Miracle by Nusentia (which is said is fabulous) or Fortiflora by Purina (which is good and is the only good thing Purina makes). He also told me he wanted to hear from me every 3-days until we get this under control. |
