| Probiotic Suggestions /Purina FortiFlora? Daisy went to the vet today and we discussed giving her a probiotic with her food. She suggested purina fortiflora, but after going through all these stomach issues with her I research everything before actually giving it to her. I read some horrible reviews on it. One review said that the flavoring ingredients in it are horrible and another review said it made their stomach issues worse. Does anyone know of a probiotic that would be good? thanks so much jamie |

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | What was it that they didn't like? Have you seen the Amazon reviews? Amazon.com: Customer Reviews: Purina Veterinary Diets Fortiflora Canine, 30 Sachets Per Box. If I had doubts about it I would ask my vet, he/she does know more than the average forum writer.

| My vet gave me some of the FortiFlora when Callie was having tummy problems and helped her. I think you can find bad reviews on anything, not everyone is going to like everything. I did notice it had a strong smell like dog food but it didn't seem to stop Callie.

| i read on a amazon review that it contains over forty percent protein which if the dog cant handle high amounts of protein it could make the situation worse (not sure if thats accurate though I havent read the label). I read on another site something about bad ingredients in the flavoring. I gave it to my puppy a year ago when she had the first episode of bloody diarrhea and it didnt seem to bother her (that i know of) but it was only given to her for a couple days. The last two episodes of bloody diarrhea and constant vomiting are much worse then what happend last year so now im paranoid about everything that i give her. Just wasnt sure if maybe there was something safer out there that I could give her. I talked to her vet and she recommended the fortiflora because thats what they sell at her office but she said I could look on the internet for other options. I left a message at her office asking her about animal essential enzyme and probiotics or proviable dc. Wasnt sure if its safe to give her a probiotic with enzymes in it. |

I know lots of people here give different probiotics, but I just don't know what kind is everyone's favorite.

| Daisys had several episodes of bloody diarrhea and has been vomiting daily for almost three months. Medicine and food change has helped. She's been on a lot of antibiotics and now has an ear infection. Her vet told me that it wouldn't hurt trying a probiotic to see if it helps her any. We aren't sure what she has ibs and ibd have been mentioned. We just ruled out pancreatitis. We do know she's having trouble moving food out of her stomach, but there isn't a blockage. Just trying to find something that might help. May need something long term to give her. |

| We use proviable. The vet prescribed it, but I think you can also get it from amazon. Sophia just gobbles up her food when its sprinkled on!

| I give Buster Jarrow Pet Dophlius Pet Dophilus My vet recommended it when we were dealing the diarrhea from the parasites coccidia and giardia and with the antibiotics for his kennel cough.

| Sophamommy; proviable is one of the ones I was considering. Daisy just weighed in at four pounds. Is your dog around the same size and how much do you give her. Thanks!! |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I like Natures Farmacy Dogzymes Digestive Enhancer. But another one that's good, and easy to get is Benebac powder.
