| Natural Balance Synergy? I read that a dog with yeast issues shouldn't be fed potatoes because they turn to sugar in their system which creates more yeast that feeds the issue. My Megan has always had on again, off again ear and glad issues...which can be caused by a yeast overgrowth in their system. I just started feeding them Natural Balance Synergy, which has no potatoes, and they love it. I fed them another brand last month that had no potatoes and she did well but Maddie didn't like that food. I've fed their other formulas in the past and they always loved them but the last bag I used was the one with pea protein and their stools smelled like ammonia or something...it was bad! So, we are now into the 4th week with no issues. Yay Megan! For the dog 'foodies' on the forum...is NB Synergy a decent food? Is it possible that there is merrit to the 'no potato' thing? I'll continue to watch her and see how this goes. |

| Natural Balance is manufactured at a Diamond facility; many are nervous about Diamond, many are not. It's what you are comfortable with. It's NOT a Diamond food (like Taste of the Wild, or 4health, for example). So the chicken going into NB is not the same quality chicken going into Diamond Naturals, for example. I like NB. Some of their formulas are a bit potato-heavy, grain-heavy and lacking meat content, but that's not a big deal to some. Overall, I think the food is a nice choice for those looking for specific things, like pinpointing allergies, etc. I have fed it in the past with good results and would feed it again. I also like that they have their Buy With Confidence which allows you to view actual laboratory results for your product by typing in your batch number. Their Synergy formula actually looks very nice, IMO, as long as your dog doesn't have any issue with barley and some other grains. It also includes 5 meat sources. Quote:

| Thank you. So far so good...stools are normal with no smell like with the last bag of NB I used...that was awful! Both girls had bad breath and horrible smelling stools with the pea protien...but not with the Synergy. Megan doesn't seem to be having any issues...we'll see how it goes with this bag and if it works we'll stick with it. I hate food trials and changes! I enjoyed home cooking but we travel quite a bit and that makes it hard sometimes. Quote:
