| 9 month old baby with itchy, flakey skin. what could it be? My yorkie baby is almost 9 months old. I brought her home when she was almost 5 months old and noticed that it looked like she had quite a bit of dandruff. I bathe her frequently and even after I do..the flakes are still on her skin. Almost daily she scratches her ears (where it seems to be the worst) and makes a little moaning sound which just breaks my heart. I took her to the groomers yesterday to get a bath, cut, teeth cleaning, nail grinding, etc..The groomer told me that Gretchen's skin is very flakey and I should take her to the vet to figure out what it is. The groomer said that she used exfoliating shampoo on her and even after she did..most of the flakes remained. She said it could be an allergic reaction to something (which I don't think..since she has had it since I first got her) or it could be some sort of skin disease/disorder. It is very prominent on her ears and looks like little flakes..the flakes on her body are bigger. Does anyone have any idea what it could be? Thank you for your time! |

| I don't know what that is... but your groomer was right a vet visit is needed... because when i first got max he had a very minor case of dandruff (mostly around the ears) that was fixed in no time.... but he never scratched. So its obvious that her skin is irritating her, so vet visit ASAP.

| I think you really need to have the vet check it out. Poor thing.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Please take her to the vet, it could be an allegic reaction to her food, or something else, my Prada has very dry skin, and it was agravated by the food she was eating, I switch her to a grain free kibble and the vet recomended an oatmeal based shampoo with lots of conditioner, after a couple of months of bathing he every two weeks and feeding her the grain free food, she got a lot better and the flakes and the itch were gone.. I since then switch her to a shampoo and conditioner called Calm Coat, I love the smell and it keeps he coat and skin healthy . |
