| For those who have pet insurance Hi, I just received an email from Trupanion that my premium went up by 30%!!!. I know that rates do go up due to inflation and advancement in vet technology, but isnt that too much for one single raise?? Do any of you have insurance with Trupanion and got the same email? | There have been a few members recently saying that this has happened. I chose Petplan instead for one of my pups.

| Do you know if this is normal? I have been with them for a year now, should I expect the same next year? I can understand a 5%-10% increase, but 30%?? Last edited by guliverandmaya; 07-22-2011 at 06:50 AM. |

| Sounds like I switched from Trupanion just in time. I was with Embrace until last year, when I decided to switch to Trupanion because their coverage sounded better for my needs. But then in May/June/July I had a terrible experience with Trupanion's customer service and poor communication so I switched back to Embrace. My claim was finally paid by Trupanion, but it was a nightmare trying to contact them by phone or email to get answers or an even just an update on the status of the claim. I'm much happier back with Embrace (who has recently upgraded their coverage and is now the best for my needs ).

Donating YT 500 Club Member | I haven't received an email yet... I also have Trupanion. I wonder if it depends on the area you are in ... hmmm... I recently had to file a claim because I ended up taking Taycie into the E.R. Vet. I have had a wonderful experience with them thus far... Very prompt payment, great customer service etc... It took longer only because I was waiting for the E.R. Vet to get back in his office to fill out his side of the paperwork. He went out of town right after I had to go in.

I had to wait for my second claim because my vet went on vacation. I printed some blank claim forms and have put them in the front of the binder I got to keep Riley's paperwork in, so that I can take one with me..... and have them fill it out right then and there.

My payments are taken out on the 23rd of each month. I got an email on June 16th saying my premium was going up on July 23rd. That is what I am worried about, now, if I switch. Anything relating to Riley and environmental allergies or ear infections, another insurance company could now say is pre-existing. UUGGHH!!

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Well... thought I would update.. Yep my premium went up too. But not horribly. I was paying $38.97 Now it is $44.33. A $5.36 difference. Not horrible. But.. it does make me worry about next year... I also have no deductible. I could choose to keep it the same and have a $50 deductible but I am not sure $5 is worth that.

| Pet Partners Renewal time is here and the insurance went up 38%!!!!!!!! So, I will go ahead and switch to PetPlan after reading about dog insurance for the last 3 days. Dora is not even 2 years old now and Petplan looks like will work for us. I ask the lady at Pet Partners about the increase in price and she just said that it was "across the board", the age of my dog, and my location (TX). She sounded like I wake her up from her nap, they will be loosing people "across the board" too... |
