| I have never used plastic bowls, and I switched their food a couple of months ago to Nutro Natural Choice-Grain Free, they love it, but it didn't help with Roxi's scratching. She also bites at her feet constantly, I used to think she was really picky about her nails, lol, but her groomer thinks this is also a fungus type problem. In the research I have done, it says to give them 1/4 teaspoon a day, and it should be extra virgin coconut oil. She loves it, and licks it right off the spoon. It does say you can rub it on the affected area ie. pads of their feet, but I have not tried that yet, she would probably just lick it off! This is day 3 and yesterday she only had 1 scratching fit, and so far none today. I'm praying this is the answer, poor girl looks so miserable when she's scratching her face.

| Just an update: We switched her to a stainless steel food bowl (to match her water bowl) and also started giving her 1/2 a teaspoon of non alcoholic children's benadryl before bed time. Last nights sleep was amazing. Not only did we sleep in, but Jade slept in right along with us. She was so full of energy this morning it was great to see. (Lately she has been so wore out during the day from being up all night). I also give her half a capsule of fish oil each morning with a few kibbles of her food (which she loves). She is still scratching some during the day, but I don't expect a food allergy to leave immediately. Here's hoping that in a month or so Jade is relatively scratch free . |
