| ![]() He's toooooo thin. Yet active and can really jump HIGH! Was on Wellness core dry food. Tried canned food only for 1 week, didn't see any improvements.... Thank you very much!

When my shih tzu was looking too thin I mixed in EVO small bites. Red meat formula in with their regular kibble , I saw inprovement in less then a month. Problem was that my yorkie gained a little too, and she did not need to. So if their are more then one dog in the house you have to consider this too.

| ![]() could be he's just got thin genes. Soph is like that. She's just over five pounds and very much on the bony side, and I swear she could eat a horse and would probably lose weight. But she's active, strong, and like yours, can jump REEEEALY high. Gulliver on the other hand is probably going to be one that could be a porky Yorkie if I'm not careful. He's my little 10 pound tank. Love 'em both ![]() |

| ![]() I would try adding canned food again- it will take longer than a week. That is how I put weight on Armani. Also adding some homecooked food can help. I just throw in some protein (chicken, fish, beef, whatever you want), whatever veggies you have laying around and some sweet potatoes- put it all in a slow cooker or a big pot, cover with water and let it cook until it is a stew. Then add a bit to their meal everyday.

| ![]() Also- try adding more meals each day- if you feed only twice a day for example, add a third meal in the middle of the day.

| ![]() Canned food is fine, but it has much fewer calories per cup than dry. If mixing it with the dry entices your pup to eat, that is good. Be careful about giving high fat foods. Some Yorkies can't handle them. Is pup not eating the kibble?

| ![]() I had the SAME problem with my little Hope. She just seemed so thin! I added a morning and night snack of cottage cheese, and sometimes I mix in some baby food---turkery and rice, carrots, chicken and rice dinner (check ingredients and make sure NO onion powder)! Also, I feed Taste of the Wild which she eats pretty okay...but I mixed in a little Beneful with each feeding (not high quality, I know) but it made her absolutely DEVOUR her food! She definitely seems to be bulking up a little from our new routine....feeling a little sturdier! Hope it helps! |
