YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Pet Fountains / Automatic Water Bowls Does anyone use these? I am looking into getting one for my crew - but I'm just curious about how often they need to be cleaned, and if my dogs will like it. I'd hate to spend $100 and then find out they hate it. If you use one, does your dog "play" in it (as in dig the water out all over your floor?) I am looking at the drinkwell 360 stainless steel model right now. Dog Feeders & Waterers: Drinkwell 360 Stainless Steel Pet Fountain|DrsFosterSmith.com Any reviews? How long will it stay cold and fresh? What about the plug - should that be concern, or is it hidden underneath?

| I don't know about the one you're looking at. I'm sure it's far better than mine. I have a LeBistro 2 1/2 gallon waterer. It's great because you are not constantly refilling a bowl. I clean it out good every time I refill it, so about every other day. With 4 dogs drinking from it, it gets sort of dirty and a slimy film on the inside of the bowl area. I don't want my dogs to drink from a dirty bowl, so I keep it clean. |

| I don't have an automatic fountain, but my dh has been on the look for one for a while now. That one looks great, but see if you can find any reviews online. $100 is a big investment for a water bowl, so you wanna be happy with it. I like that it has 360 degree access for the dogs. I think this would be great for more than one dog to drink from it at the same time.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Yes, that's what I was thinking. I have four yorkies, and they are always thirsty at the same time. I like this one because it is stainless steel. I do not want a plastic one. I just want to know a little more about it before purchasing it.

| I had the drinkwell platinum for 2 years and it was a terrible thing to clean I dreaded it so many pieces! So I looked up and decided on the drinkwell 360 stainless steal after the video on there website said there is really only 2 pieces to clean. We have only had it for a week but it keeps the water even colder then the old one. I got mine from buy.com for 59.00but it looks like they raised there price.

| I had planned to get the SS one too, but decided to hold off for a while. I did have the plastic model, and mine loved drinking out of it. The sound even entices them to drink. My cats loved it too. With the Yorkies, it keeps their faces dryer, and that's always a plus! I quit using the plastic model bc of Tinkerbell's Liver Shunt, as some plastics break down and emit chemicals into the water.

| What's the advantage of this over a water bowl? Do you have to clean it less often? Does it keep the water fresher?

| It puts the water through a filter that will filter out any ickies and it seems to stay colder longer especially the stainless steel. Also there beards tend to get less wet if they drink from the stream.

| I've had that fountain for a couple months now and I just love it!! The dogs love it too!! They prefer this fountain out of all the other bowls and the 2 other fountains I have. Some of them drink right from the stream while others still prefer to drink from the bowl. It does seem to keep the water much cooler. Before this one I had the Petmate fountain. It was plastic and a pain to clean, so many pieces and then you can never really get it clean because of all the little crevices. But with the drinkwell 360 stainless steel it is so much easier. Basically only 2 parts, the bowl and the cone/fountain part. You can take it apart in a matter of seconds and have it completely cleaned in just mere minutes. It also comes with a prefilter that I think is nice. It goes around the motor so the motor stays clean. And then you have the regular filter which works good as well. I take it apart every weekend and give it a good cleaning. It holds a lot of water so I don't have to fill it as nearly as often even with multiple dogs. So far no one has played in it which surprises me because I thought for sure they would. A portion of the cord is hidden underneath one of the clips but you still have the rest of the cord and plug to deal with. My fountain sits on a mat and I am able to hide almost all of the cord underneath it so much isn't exposed and it looks neat. Have you ever had a fountain before? I am sure there are some dogs that might not like it but all mine do and most do. It is very quiet so it won't startle them and it keeps the water cool and fresh. Oh and by the way you can get this at Petco online for a much cheaper price. It is $68 and comes with free shipping. This is where I got mine.

| I never tried an expensive one, but I got one once that as water came out it refilled, well Harley emptied it in less than 2 minutes (and not by drinking) he thought it was a swimming pool. I came back to a pool on the floor . I then filled it and put it in the tub to make sure it wasn't leaking, come to find out he was just pawing the water out... So if you invest in one, make sure you consider the idea of them playing with it and making a mess. I would have never thought of that.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | Thanks for the replies! No, I've never had a fountain with them before. I tired one once - years ago, with a cat, but the cat did not like it at all and wouldn't use it. I'm hoping the dogs will like it - but not want to empty it out all over the floor! I guess you'll never know until you try it. I like that this one is easy to clean, and it keeps the water fresh and cold. I have a mat that I can use under it (to hide the cord a bit). I'm going to get this one and try it out! I'll let you all know how it goes!

| This is a very interesting product and I like the idea of it for the fresh flowing filtered water. But, with the exposed cord, I'd never use it with my dogs. I'd worry that someone would be electocuted when I got home.

| How much are filters? How often would you have to replace them? Are they easy to locate without having to order online? Is there a Warranty / Extended warranty if it dies out over a period of time? I would think it's beneficial however costly long term.

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | A 3-pack of filters are roughly $9.99 - and it is recommended to change the filter every 2-4 weeks. I bought mine online (but I think they are sold at Petco).
