| Yorkie had a bit of curry sauce I know it sounds stupid but i was having some chicken with curry sauce and just wanted to give my yorkie a taste of it. I put my finger in the sauce and made her lick it. Really small amount, about a pinch. The sauce had cooked onion, garlic, curry and yogurt in it. After about 15 minutes i was giving her dog treat and after eating it, she kinda made noises as if she was vomiting, but nothing came out. Was that just a coincidence, or did the onions in the sauce affect her? I didnt know onions were toxic to dogs, i'll make sure never to give her that not even in small amounts. | The amount of onion and garlic in one pinch would not hurt a dog. I assume the curry was hot though. This could have definitely caused irritation. Dogs shold not be given anyting spicy. The attempted vomit was probably her body trying to reject it. Actually throwing up something spicy though could potentially cause burning in the esophagus.

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My thought is that the curry would affect her more than the onion or garlic, in this case. I find curry (usually) super hot! Personally, I wouldn't risk giving spicy things to dogs as it could potentially make them feel a little ill - and also bc it can scare them.

I will always wonder if I killed my little zhoey -- so please be careful!! | please make sure in the future you use a bit more disgretion when giving and/or making your yorkie taste something. A dog is not a human that needs to learn to have a fancy palate or enjoy new tastes. Lots and lots of things people eat can seriously harm a dog. Anything curry related is not a very wise thing for you to feed a dog. I hope you are more discerning next time and I hope you don't end up at the ER vet tonight. If the dog shows any signs of vomitting or diarrhea I recommend at least a phone call to the ER vet if not going to see them too. |

This is your first post on Yorkietalk so it is impossible to get a better idea of how you treat your dog. This is not a good first impression though. I am glad all you wound up causing was a bit of gagging. Hopefully you will not experiment like this with your dog in the future.

| My dog ate a tiny bit of curry sauce, is it dangereous? - Yahoo! Answers Looks like the same person, but the story is different (it fell on the floor here). Saw this the other day when looking up the answer for this poster but was too tired to compare names.

Same username, so same person. So, fall on the floor or put her finger in the sauce and make her lick it
