| She won't starve herself will she? I feed both my Shih tzu and Yorkie Wellness Small bites. I free feed them . Suzi my yorkie is long and lean, and could use a couple pounds on her. Her hair has grown out , but she looks thin. SHe will be 3 yeas old in March. Do they get tired of eating the same thing all the time? I just started to supplement feed Suzi Wellness canned for one meal. It is the organic one Beef, and is loaded with high protein. I am not taking the kibble away and do not want Suzi to only eat canned. SHould I change to a different kibble, or continue to supplement her feeding? Suzi is very healthy , and groing up we had POms. I remember hearing that a dog will not starve themselves , however I do not think Suzi is eating enough throughout the day. I did this with my Shih Tzu for about three months because I thought she was not eating enough. Now that her hair has grown out she looks huge . MIley (shih tzu) is a lot heavier then Suzi . They are the same height though. After feeding canned I see how much more energy they had just after eating. Thinking about Evo for them.... I prefer kibble as the main diet. any suggestions?

| Are you feeding them separately? Maybe it just takes a little longer for one to eat and the other one is getting more due to different eating habits..... We feed Innova. They love it. We have also fed Blue but couldn't get it locally so we switched..... one of our groomers uses it (she does lots of food research....and knows that the company that makes it has changed hands, but watching the ingredients and keep up with the company to make sure that they haven't changed it)

Here is the way I look at it.... Izzy is a VERY picky eater, she doesn't even like most wet food... I so feed her very high Quality food.. that way, with the little that she does eat, I know she is getting the Quality she needs... Maybe you should try sch. feeding...( they may be getting tired of wellness and it's good to change anyway) Give them a good kibble with alittle wet food in the morning then again in the evening... Theres nothing wrong with making their food alittle tastier for them..

| Thank you both for the feedback. I have done some thinking and do know that Shih tzu's are prone to getting overweight. A high protein diet may not be suitable for her. I agree that it is important to feed a high quality diet . A little goes a long way. It would be nice if I can find the right kibble for both dogs. I may have to start feeding them separtely and on a schedule diet.
