It's primarily dogs on high protein kibble who have had elevated kidney values as kibble is very dehydrating. Protein is processed through the liver and kidneys so if your dog is chronically dehydrated from eating strictly a kibble diet, it puts strain on the kidneys. High protein canned, homecooked or raw don't usually cause any problems. If I were going to feed kibble only I would choose a kibble that is lower protein. Castor-Pollux is an excellent food and Petsmart carries it. | |

| ![]() Since Acana is high-quality protein it's easier for dogs to break down and digest. You have to worry when there's a high-protein dog food that's coming from low-quality. With Acana you don't need to worry about that!!! ![]() |
