| Gas! Happy is a bit embarrassed but I have say he is the gassiest dog ever! Granted today is only day 5 of eating a healthy diet, however, he is so darn stinky! The Vet says it will get better but I am wondering if there is anything natural that I can give him to ease his tummy and my nose! Suggestions? |

| Perhaps a probiotic from the vet might help?

| My little girl, Ashley, was taking in too much air into her belly because of problems with her trachea. She had huge gas pockets in her belly, so after trying other medications to remedy it, the other doctor at the practice told me to try Gas-X. Ashley was 4 pounds and he told me to give her 1/4 of a tablet. I thought the liquid would be easier, so I gave her Baby Gas-X. Ashley was almost 17 at the time, and he said it couldn't harm her, but I would check with your vet first to be sure it is okay for your little one.

| Kasha is also a gassy goose! She's on Nature's Variety & Stella&Chewy's(dehydrated) and enjoys taking her daily dose of probiotics(kong filled with a heaping table spoon of plain greek yogurt) so I know it's not the food. I'd love to hear any suggestions because it's not very lady like :-)

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | My suggestion would be to switch foods. Gas can be so uncomfortable and if it's frequent, it's usually a sign that some ingredient is tough on the digestive tract, and causing excessive gas. So this a newer food for him then? You may want to compare ingredients of his new food to his old food, as this could give you some clues on what to avoid .

| When Sophie had this problem the vet put her on Purina one and she did so good with that food and she really loved it. I plan on putting Scooter on it when he is old enough. It is a bit more expensive but it is very good for them. |

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Bridget occassionally got bad gas after she had bully sticks I was buying. Might have been just a fluke - but the two sure seemed like they went together.

The veternarian believes that it is just food period that is making him a bit gassy, he is very under weight at this point but we are doing everything we can to get him feeling better. We will continue to play it by ear and hope he is feeling better soon | |

Sometimes, digestive enzymes can help...or, if it really seems bad, your vet may have suggestions to help him ease the gas either with OTC product, or with a prescription product. Seeing he was previously abandoned, the idea of probiotics could be even more valid, as who knows what he ate when on his own. A short term boost that may help him is Benebac (available at PetCo - but not Petsmart - in the small animal section and in the Dog section). This is a high-potency probiotic paste that can help doggies under stress. If you want something more longterm, then I'd suggest Natures Farmacy Dogzymes.
