| Stella and Chewy's Raw Food I took the plunge and purchased a small bag of Stella & Chewy's at the pet food store yesterday. I got the freezer kind, not the freeze-dried one. It was on sale for a little over $6 for 12 little patties. It's usually a little over $8. I don't really want to feed this every day simply for a matter of convenience and cost. He would need around 5 patties a day if I was only feeding S&C's. I originally wanted to feed it as a 'treat' in replacement of a meal some nights. Now I'm considering maybe just giving him one patty for breakfast (since he's never been a big morning eater, this would entice him to eat) and then his kibble (Acana) mixed with wet for dinner. Anyways, I put a patty in the fridge last night to thaw out over night. Around 10am, I gave him one patty and I've never seen Jackson scarf anything down so fast! He LOVED it. And kept looking at me, wondering where the rest was! I wanted to just give him one to make sure he didn't get an upset stomach or anything, I'm a noobie to the raw thing. And I love these little patties because they are not gross looking! They just look like little compact hamburgers. Anyways, he pooped about an hour later and it was totally perfect, small, firm, etc. http://www.stellaandchewys.com/products.html Anyone else feed Stella and Chewy's?

| Stella and Chewy's Raw Food I use the freeze dried ones, and it calls for 1/4 two times a day for a 4 pound pup. Directions are on the back of the package. Did you check? Good luck, my pup loves them!

| Oh, yes. I know how much he needs. I just don't want to feed it to him for every meal every single day. He would need 5 patties per day. He's 15lbs. I'm glad to hear your dog likes them!

Licricket - Max is 4 lbs and I give him one freeze-dried patty in the morning and 1 in the evening with a few little snacks during the day. I'm confused about your giving your pup only 1/4 patty twice a day? According to the chart, a 6 lb adult dog should get 3 patties per day so doing a little division, I came up with 2 patties per day for 4 lbs. Puppies should get a bit more. Am I reading it wrong or missing some info? Max eats every bite and is slim and trim so I don't think it's too much. Britster - it would be expensive to feed Jackson only S & C's, wouldn't it? Weren't you feeding Acana kibbleor one of it's sister products? Just wondering why you stopped. I would love to find a grain-free kibble that Max would eat as rotation with S & C's but now he's so spoiled that he just turns his nose up at ALL kibble and even some home-cooked! | |

| We are big fans of Stella & Chewy's too. I'm so glad Jackson liked it! I will say I think we pay about $18.99 for a 3 lb bag. So if you decide to feed it more often in the future, it would probably be cheaper to buy the larger bags. Rory (very active) is 12 lbs and eats 1 1/3 patties for each meal. She does eat kibble sometimes too (1/4 cup of Orijen). Are you sure Jackson would need 5-6 patties per day? It just seems like a lot, so I can see why'd you'd be so hesitant to feed it daily.

| [QUOTE=Cici C;3268308]My little Max LOVES S & C! Right now he gets chicken in the morning and beef at night. I use the freeze-dried - it's just so easy. He likes the frozen raw but he loves the freeze-dried even though I rehydrate it so it's a wet food. I used to home cook but he likes this even better and licks his bowl clean every time. He didn't really love Nature's Variety raw and I liked the way S & C processed their food better so it worked for both of us. I put the patty on top of NOW Puppy Formula (about 1/2 cup??) as per the breeder's instructions. He has been on that same feeding since I got him, 3 weeks ago, and that is what he has been eating all along. I will double check with my breeder, but he was 7 months old when I adopted him. His weight is perfect. Of course, he gets vegetables during the day, also, and sometimes a little yogurt or cottage cheese. If the only thing he was eating was the S&C, it definitely would not be enough. Thanks for your concern and I should not have neglected to add that it was in addition to the NOW.

| Oh wow, Brit, cool...Honestly, when I switched Apple from kibble to raw, I did it all in one day, and never had one issue, at all...At that time, she only weighed 4 1/2 lbs....Before I knew it, she was up to 5 lbs...I'm so happy, for Jackson, that he's going to get some raw...Lots of ppl, on here, feed raw in the a.m. and kibble in the p.m....I would, but Buzz won't eat anything but raw...I'm feeding Primal, now, but S&C's is excellent...the 1 1/2 oz. patties were a bit much for Apple, and it was too much of a pain, trying to cut off a half an ounce...She was gaining too much weight...I'm glad you and Jackson like it...It's definitely cheaper in the 3 # bag...If you ever went all raw, you could buy the 8 oz. patties, and it's an even better deal...Let us know how it all goes...ttyl...Maggie xoxox |

| Brit, I just started mine on S & C. they are liking it. I am using the dehydrated. BTW, Bev's has/had the frozen, BOGO! I don't know if they still have it going on but worth checking. I got 2 bags, 1 beef and 1 lamb. They didn't seem over keen on the frozen but I am going to try it again because i think thaty they mayhave been stillfull from the dehydrated meal. Still playing with how much to feel. the package says 2 patties a day for each one, but I think it might to much for mine.
