| Scared For Surgery Hello Everyone, My furbaby Pepper is going in for the "Big Snip" tomorrow. I was told to drop him off in the morning and pick him up in the evening. They said he wont need any pain meds...ouch! I know getting him neutered is the best choice health wise, but I'm so..nervous!!! Poor litttle sweetie looks at me with those cute eyes and doesn't have a clue he's getting cut open! He's 10 months old and 6 pounds. Hope this will stop him from "marking" everything! Sorry for rambling...thanks 4 listening |

| We just had our new baby boy done this past Thursday and he did fine. He's four months and just over 5 pounds. He barely has an incision, just a couple of stitches, and although they sent us home with pain meds, we haven't used them. He was up and wanting to play that evening, didn't act like he was at all uncomfortable. We've had more problems keeping his activity down and keeping the cone on him. i'll probably take the pain meds back to the vet when we get his stitches out so they can dispose of it safely. I won't tell you not to worry because you will....but he'll do fine and he'll let you know if he's needing a little pain relief. you know these boys, they whine and complain at the least little bit of discomfort |

| Some vets give meds because it has been shown to speed healing and it keeps them comfortable. Others don't because they think either not much pain is involved or it should be withheld b/c supposedly it makes them feel too good, so they need to feel the pain. Couldn't imagine going with the latter. Neutering is a very short procedure. He should be just fine.

| I am sure your little one will be fine. I would definitely get meds. My vet, at the time, said that Hot Rod didn't need any and in hindsight wished that I would have insisted. Best of luck with you little one. Let us know how he does. He'll be great.
