| Innova food and Maya So I have two, in case you don't know me, a sturdy girl of 3, Mika weighing in at just under 10 pounds, and a tiny Maya around 4. Reading on yorkie talk I had gleened that this Innnova food was really good, so of course, only the best for my girls, I started using this. The part that puzzles me is Maya did fine on it for quite some time. Then you might remember that she started this mysterious illness that I came to you guys about. I have to add that right about this time, I was not only using Innova, but I had decided that they need "variety" so I was trying the different Innova flavors , like salmon for example. So ensued (in just Maya, I think Mika has a cast iron stomach), this clear vomiting, followed by diarhhea, no eating, and so so so sick and crying. We did every test under the sun, which she tested negative for addisons, and I was just miserable. Well finally, my vet/girlfriend noted that Maya was never sick at her house when I would go on my trips. She had me to get her the same dog food, Purina One small bites, take Maya off of all the fancy treats I bought at the same fancy dog food store I got the Innova at, and so far, no sickness in Maya. My other girlfriend from Arkansas was visiting, and I asked her if she wanted the rest of this large (and expensive) bag of Innova for her daughter's PekiPom... She called yesterday and said Butterscotch loved it, devoured it, and then had diarrhea. Now don't get me wrong, I am not here to knock Innova. I'm just thinking , that maybe for SOME dogs, it a little too rich, or hard to digest or something. I know I feel like such a fool for all Maya has been through, and I am just putting this out there in case someone else is having the same problem. We are what we eat.

| Innova is really not all that rich of a food (unless you're talking about EVO?) it was probably just something in the ingredients that didn't mesh with poor Maya's system. Jackson didn't like the regular Innova. He just stopped eating it. Also, wanted to add, Innova and Natura products were just bought out by Proctor & Gamble, the company who owns Iams, etc. Many people stopped feeding for this reason. How long has this problem been going on? I wonder if they are changing ingredients already without people knowing. In my humble opinion, I would try other higher quality foods than Purina before just giving up. Some dogs don't do well on certain foods but there's a lot of other options out there with way better ingredients ranging from lower proteins (Natural Balance comes to mind) to higher proteins (Orijen). Also, as for Butterscotch the dog, has he ever had higher quality food in his life? If the owner just randomly did a quick switch to Innova, with no week-2 week transition period, of course he's going to have diareah, his system is not used to it. I'm not saying some dogs don't do well on Purina, Pedigree, etc. But I've seen so many older-ish dogs who have been eating that all their life and they are seemingly "doing just fine" and "perfectly healthy." My grandma's Lab, she will be 9 soon. Yes, she's got lots of energy and is a happy dog seemingly perfectly fine, but looking closer, she's got terrible breath, horrible teeth, sheds like a maniac (yes all Labs do, but food has a huge part in how much), she's overweight, she's got little bumps all over her and those scab-looking things on her elbows. I only notice these things because I've looked so much into dog nutrition.

| I know what you mean. I fed my Lucy Purina Puppy Chow for a long time because that is what the breeder had her on and she wouldn't eat anything else. I finally put her on a higher protein 'better' food ~ TOTW and come to find out she has liver issues. TOTW had way too much protein for her. I actually did her a disservice by switching foods. Now she's on NB Vegetarian - which I'm not thrilled about but so far so good. Sometimes, you just have to go with what works for you and your dog. I probably wouldn't try changing your little one's food until things have settled down for some time. Then you might want to try something else. Mine eventually tire of something once they have eaten it for several months. Did her liver check out ok?

| Well as I said, I feel that it is best for my baby that her other mother and I are feeding the same thing. As Lisa's little girl Kassie said "Maya is never sick at our house."

| Innova Evo Is anyone feeding their Yorkie Evo? I am looking for a puppy right now but feed my other dogs Innova Evo. I stopped using grocery store dog food a long time ago and started buying the holistic brands when the last horrible dog food recall happened. I believe that everyone's health is directly related to how they eat so I buy the best that I can afford for my dogs. I just wondered if anyone has been feeding their Yorkie the Innova Evo. Kim |

| Since this post came back up here is the latest. For the past 3 days Maya has been very sick. I have given her NOTHING but the new food, no treats, nothing else. It was the same pattern, the huge clear vomit with no product in it, just white bubbles and clear liquid. Followed by listlessness, no appetite, no playing , tail down, and diarrhea that smells like diesel fuel. I was so hoping that we had found the answer, and that putting her on the same food she had at other mommie's house would be the end of it, but here I am again, with a sick baby, this is like every two weeks regular as clockwork. I hate this.
