| I think it makes a big difference if you cut the hair around their eyes. I don't cut the hair around my dog's eyes, and it lays flat and doesn't get in their eyes. If you are trimming that hair, it is probably poking him in the eye and isn't helping with the crusties. I clean Couver and Khloe's eyes every other day and on bath day. When I bathe them, I use a flea comb and comb out the crusties around their eyes. This really helps clear them up. Also, why is your little guy on an all wet diet?

| I have been trimming the hair around Hot Rod's eyes short. I find myself trimming often to make sure the hair is not irritating his eyes. Maggie May's hair is up in a top know so she doesn't have the problem of hair poking her in the eyes. But both of mine have the gunk and I keep unscented baby wipes around for this. I usually tear up one into 1/4's and clean the eye area every day. I also comb the hair out to make sure all of it is gone.

| I've been washing my Sheba's eyes out with a washclothe (warm) in the mornings during her brushing. I learned that using a toothbrush works great to clean out the gunk! I'm trying to let it grow so I can put her hair up out of the way completely... |

| I think it's normal, but Fauna doesn't get too much of it everyday. I always tie her hair top knot to prevent it from poking her eyes because that could be one of the reasons for having excessive eye gunk. It's good that you're taking her to the vet, hope everything's well. Last edited by fauna; 05-21-2016 at 08:02 PM. |
