| My now passed girl weighed in at 17 pounds, beautiful sleek body. A yorkie is a yorkie regardless of its weight.

| I prefer my yorkies to look closer to the breed standards. I paid a lot of money for my recent baby. She definitely does not meet breed standards at 5 months of age. In my opinion breeders should not sell yorkies as full blood yorkies when they know they won’t meet breed standards. I have no problem with them being a pound over or slightly different in appearance. But to me, it is irresponsible breeders who simply want to make as much money as possible and don’t really care about “standards“. It was my own fault that I got a puppy that kinda looks like a yorkie. Has the right color and perked up ears. But extremely long legs, wavy to curly thick fur (not hair) and a large thick muzzle. No perked up nose here. And not the temperament or behavior of my previous yorkies. She is a wild child! My vet did not list her breed as a yorkie. She asked me if I thought she was a full blood yorkie. We still love her and she gets lots of love and attention and toys. She will have a very good life. But is not the dog I had hoped for. |

| There are so many dishonest "so called" breeders out there, one has to do much research to find a reputable breeder. I know you love this lil baby although you have your doubts. You can do a DNA for your own curiosity or peace of mind. I don't know if this price has changed. DNA Wisdom Panel PRICE: $84.99 www.WisdomPanel.com

| A few years ago I was told that the most accurate DNA test is the blood test done by the vet. I don't know if that is still the case but I have done a couple that I knew were accurate. I have seen some weird results with the one done at home. I need to remember to ask my vet about this...if it has changed.

As matese suggested, you could do a DNA test just so that you know.

| Oh....and I must add this. The pup in my avatar is Cookie who came to me as a foster when she was probably about a year old. She was a loud, wild, crazy pup and barked incessantly. She was smart and I thought maybe she would be a good agility pup....I put that in her bio and I talked about her everywhere, praying someone would adopt her. LOL I wanted her gone...loved her as I love them all, but not a "keeper" for me. I can't even say exactly how it happened but she became my "heart dog" and I adopted her ... she was the mama to all the pups and took a special interest in the needy, older ones. I taught her to "talk" and she actually had "conversations" with me....so adorable. She loved the "limelight" and I have so many wonderful pics of her. She modeled for a friend of mine who sells photos on Istock. I could go on for days about my Cookie. She went to the Bridge in 2017 and not a day goes by that she doesn't cross my mind. Anyway............I always knew she was a mix and one day did a DNA test at the vet and it came back that she was yorkie/border terrier. As SOON as I saw the results I was like, YES, .. it was definitely what she was. Crazy little, awesome terrier.

| Thanks for being so understanding, because we do love our baby. When we go to the next vet visit, I will try to remember to ask the cost of a DNA test. Just out of curiosity. I actually think she would be great and love agility. I had a rescue toy poodle that was also good at that. However she failed her final test because she stopped at the teeter totter to eat dropped treats from previous dogs. 😂 Molly races around our enclosed porch crawling under things and jumping over others. Just having so much fun. And really fast. Sadly I am too old now and have MG and have difficulty walking. But I think she could be a great contender. I don’t know of any agility classes or obstacle courses where we now live, or I would still give it a try. |
